• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I know my schizophrenic voices are demons. They torment me day and night. They are trying to convince me that God is doing some sort of "street judgement" where he is exposing my thoughts and sins to society telepathically while everyone mocks and ridicules me. This is just the latest theory my "voices" have almost convinced me of; there have been countless others that were just as bad. I cant take this humiliation and shame anymore I need to get these demons out of me. Should I go to a catholic church for an exorcism or go see a deliverance ministry? Does anyone know who can help me?

Hey! You should see a Christian psychologist or psychiatrist. There is a difference between mental illness (which you have) and demon possession.

If you had heart failure, you wouldn’t go to and exorcist to remove the demon from your heart. You would go to a heart doctor.

You are struggling against flesh and blood, your brain is an organ and it is defective and you will need to see a medical doctor or psychologist to address it! The reason I say to see a Christian psychologist or psychiatrist is that they will have a better understanding of how the physical (your mental illness) and the spiritual (demonic influence and fear and doubt) are giving you problems.

while demons can take advantage of our physical weaknesses like mental illness by trying to make us live in fear and feel helpless, they do not have the power to control you if you have the Holy Spirit living in you. If you have a schitz. diagnosis you most likely need medication.

imagine if you took a pill every day that treated your physical illness (mental illness) and the symptoms no longer had the power to make you live in fear? This is what most people who have your condition do and it changes their life.

You will likely find little relief in exorcisms or interventions that are only spiritual in nature because you have a physical illness.
God uses human medicine—which he invents through doctors and researchers—to defeat sin and evil just as much as he uses spiritual medicine (pastors, teachers, etc).

please don’t listen to any Christian who responds to this thread telling you to go to some person for some demon evacuation trick. They may mean well but this will not help you.

See a doctor.

Robert Morris has a deliverance ministry. He was formerly senior pastor of Gateway. Derek Prince Ministries will also help. They will minister to you by phone or by Skype. You need someone who knows their authority in Christ. GaveMeJoy is wrong. There is no pill to cast out demons.

Think on these verses as that which is good Philippians 4:8 and ignore the tormenting spirits, whether they be from delusional talking on the street (which is common for demons to do) or interrupting your own thoughts. Since you know they are not from God then follow godly advise thru the scripture.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Peter 5:9
Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

James 4:1-17
What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? ...

Ephesians 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

1 Peter 5:8-9
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

James 1:13-14
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Matthew 4:1
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Matthew 6:13
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

James 1:14
But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

1 Timothy 6:9
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

2 Corinthians 4:4
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

James 1:13
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Hebrews 2:18
For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ...

Jude 1:9
But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

1 John 3:8
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

James 4:6

Pick a few at a time and set them to heart.

Revelation 12:9-10
And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;

1 Peter 5:1-14
So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” ...

1 Peter 2:1-25
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ...

James 1:1-27
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. ...

Hebrews 2:14
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

2 Timothy 2:26
And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Ephesians 5:1-33
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. ...

Galatians 6:1
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Galatians 5:1-26
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. ...

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

Acts 13:10
And said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord?

John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Luke 22:40
And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Luke 4:33
And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,

Matthew 13:39
And the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels.

Matthew 5:1-48
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. ...

Matthew 4:11
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

I know my schizophrenic voices are demons. They torment me day and night... Should I go to a catholic church for an exorcism or go see a deliverance ministry? Does anyone know who can help me?

Mason William, I have struggled with this dilemma in the past as I am bipolar with an extensive history of psychosis. There was a point that I thought all I needed was deliverance. While demons can capitalize on mental illness and exacerbate our symptoms, it has been clearly documented that schizophrenia is a physiological disorder of the brain. It is based in a chemical imbalance of dopamine (a neurotransmitter) and faulty network connections that have been revealed in brain scans.

Like GaveMeJoy suggested, I HIGHLY recommend seeing a psychiatrist.

Ask the Support Area of this forum. We are not allowed to discuss that with you but they are more than happy to help. Just for the record, your voices are Liars! No one can hear anything broadcast unless they are visibly talking on a megaphone, or on a loud speaker but I am telling you in the 49 years I have been alive, I have never been able to hear anyone's thoughts, even slightly. It is not even 2% true. It is not possible.

Are you under the care of a psychiatrist? Audible hallucinations are the result of a chemical unbalance in the brain. I myself am bipolar with a very long history of hearing voices (along with catatonia). If I am on an effective anti-psychotic medication I don't experience of such symptoms.

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia but they did a MRI brain scan it did not reveal anything out of the ordinary.

I would recommend going to a church that is full-gospel, charismatic, or Pentecostal or any church that believes in miracles, deliverance, and the gifts of the spirit. Don't go to a catholic church for an exorcism, that is not legit and will not work.
