Regardless of the criticism from many on the left Trump is receiving widespread praise for his leadership in this crisis. Polls show that the majority of Americans also agree.

Other countries are not doing better battling the virus. The attitude of the government didn’t make a dent. The number of Chinese returning in January played a large role. The ease of travel in the country or between countries played a large role. None of these could have been halted in a free society without obvious danger. I don’t live in the US and we’re battling too and no decision Trump made or didn’t helps or hurts us.

New York has almost as many infected as the rest of the country. I'm not criticizing Cuomo, but I don't think he has handled this better than anybody else.

New Yorkers are densely populated and very mobile, which means more infections.

NY is testing at a higher rate per capita than any place on earth including S. Korea. Cuomo's actions began 1 week ago, therefore we probably won't see any impact for another 1-2 weeks. Let's look at how NY fares compares to these states without nearly as many confirmed cases in a month. That will determine how effective or ineffective Cuomo's policies have been.

He is so cavalier that when the governor of Washington State made some suggestions to Trump, his response was to call him a "snake". This may go over well with some of his base but the rest of us think that it debases him and degrades the office of the Presidency.

If anything it's a backhanded compliment - she's praising him for his change in tone for a couple of days out of the entire crisis. She's saying that this new tone of his is a welcome change from his cavalier and reckless tone from before.

It's like if I said "Oh wow you actually look good today!" that would be a backhanded compliment because while I'm "praising" you for your looks today I'm basically saying (without directly saying it) that you look bad every other day.

It wouldn't have been true, but Trump is more worried about name-calling and attacking while Americans die. He doesn't care about any American lives whatsoever. He only cares about his god, mammon. Makes me wonder what his devout supporters are thinking.
