"Jesus said as you pray it, believe, and you will receive. So does that mean as you say it believe or can you believe you will receive at the end of the prayer when you say, "in Jesus name, amen"? This question probably has a simple, easy answer but i just want to make sure i am praying right."

Let me just put out some things. Peter and John at the Gate said don't have any sliver or gold but what I do have give I unto you.. in Jesus name. They never prayed to God or ask Jesus to do anything. After told the people.. why do you look at us as if we did this by our own power? Its FAITH <---IN that name.

Then Christ said (yet Christ told us everything He said was the Fathers words) who so ever believes... He said in my name you will cast out demons.. lay hands on the sick. on and on. He said.. what ever you ask the Father in my name. What ever you desire when you pray believe you receive it and you will have it. OT delight your self in the lord and He WILL give you the desires of your heart.

So we know that with out Faith its impossible to please Him. So does this mean I just ask for ANYTHING? No :) see we ask according to what HIS will is. So whats His will then? HAHA ITS HIS WORD! His WORD that bible is HIS word. So when we ask just make sure it goes inline with His word. And find the PROMISES in that word.. they are for ALL that believe (I believe).

So His word says if we know He hears us then we know we have the petitions/prayers we asked for. Again GODS WILL is HIS WORD! So KNOW that your Father ALWAYS hears you. How do I know this? :) His WORD tell us He always hears the righteous. And YOU and I are righteous because we believe in Jesus.

Now also know that one time Jesus went to a town and all He could do was teach and lay hands a few. Why? Because of doubt. The word says..if you doubt your like a ship tossed back and forth and let not that man think he will receive anything from God.

So.. KNOW He always hears you.. know how He moves.. what are the FRUITS of the spirit? Like the song playing now "my feet are on the rock...by I am they".

He never uses fear worry doubt. Always will give us a peace.. a peace that ONLY comes from Him. Fear ties to come in? ANYTHING Like this.. I speak HIS word.. NO I don't receive fear. For God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power and love and and sound mind.

We need to KNOW He is for us not against us. And we REALLY Need to KNOW HE CAN NOT LIE! Read HIS word.. ask Him to open your eyes. To NOT believe this because I say this.. ask HIM to show you... if you feel you did something wrong. REPENT! KNOW that HE KEEPS HIS WORD. If you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleans you from ALL Unrighteousness.

So DON'T be moved by what you see hear or FEEL! Like Peter on the water.. no matter WHAT YOU SEE going on around you.. KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS! HIS JOY is your strength. His peace is yours.. that armor is GODS armor you put on.. on and on its ALL HIM! wow.. preached my self happy..

So... be like a child.. simply believe. This is the only reason I have to way so many things from GOD have been in my life. I just read what HE said.. and I believe. HE IS REAL! TALK TO HIM! He loves to talk.. take time to LISTEN. Give everything to Him.. everything.. then watch what He does PRAISE GOD!

See for me its ALWAYS for Him.. never self. I never take thanks.. its always to give HIM all the glory and praise.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is being careful with what's going on in the world with the coronavirus.

I just have a few simple questions about my faith and prayer.

1. Is it okay if I pray with my eyes open? I prayed a certain prayer that I do not have memorized and I sort of read it to God. I prayed it but I read it as I prayed it. Does that make sense?

2. Jesus said as you pray it, believe, and you will receive. So does that mean as you say it believe or can you believe you will receive at the end of the prayer when you say, "in Jesus name, amen"? This question probably has a simple, easy answer but i just want to make sure i am praying right.

That's all. Thank you to everyone who reads and responds to this. Thank you! :)
It makes me happy to read a post like yours. It appears that you are humbly and sincerely seeking to communicate with God The Father. Something that is fundamental in all of our prayers is prefacing all prayer with Thy Will be Done. That sometimes is a difficult thing to do. Christ fervently prayed for a way out of His death on the cross. I believe that the reason for that was that for the first time in eternity Christ was going to experience separation from God His Father. He therefore experienced hell for all of us. Christ is our high priest forever. He hears your very thoughts and that includes your prayers. I will pray for your Christian growth according to God’s Will.

Prayer Guidelines From Sermon on the Mount:

Matthew 6:5-6 (WEB)

5 “When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

My goodness! Read the Bible! To pray right???

This life is not about this life! God owes you nothing. Take his joke upon you and learn of him.

1. Eyes open is fine. Sometimes closing your eyes helps to shut out distractions.
2. Praying in Jesus' name ensures that your prayer gets God's attention. As long as you are believing once you have prayed, you are fine - as long as you are praying according to God's will.

But can you believe after you ask it?
Sure. Sometimes faith rises as we are praying, especially if we are quoting God's word as we pray. We can start off wondering and end up thanking.

Pray. That's all that matters. Pray any time and any place. Just pray. How you do it doesn't matter so long as you give it up to God.

"Believing" is simply trusting God will provide for you. It's a constant that doesn't stop with the prayer. It may not be on your timeline, how you expect it to be, or right away, but he will provide for you.

Hello :)

#1 Prayer is not about a physical position as much as it is about a mental state of mind. No matter where you are or what you are doing it is a good time for prayer. It's mostly about the content of your prayer. Make it from your heart and mind more then your hand and lips.

#2 Without going into a long discussion, my opinion is that the context of the "believe and receive" prayers are more for the saints under biblical persecution and not mans tribulation in this present evil age. During the time they were given and in a future time such as Revelation talks about, is where you could expect to see a direct application. From Heaven the Lord gave us some specific results to expect, such as Peace and Joy. I think you will get more out of prayer from what Paul wrote as given to him after the cross.

Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Phil. 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Yes you can......It would help to look into how the "asking" is done.

You are the brother of the prodigal son. Everything the Father has is yours. You just do not realize it yet.

If it is God's will. The bible isn't a book of witchraft where if we recite the correct words we can order God around.

James 4
15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

Thank you for sharing your questions with us. It is a great question that you are asking. This time is a special one; that this particular time that we are living in the season of Lent reminds us to be in penance and observance of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. Let me tell you my sister in Christ that you’re not alone, many Christian believers are wondering what we can do to be reverent in prayer. In regards to praying visually, it is ok to read prayer with your eyes open. His Sacred Word instruct us how to pray: “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. And then Jesus advises us to pray: Our Father. Mathew 6, 5-15. Jesus asks us to pray in secret, to go our bedroom, close the door and pray to Our Heavenly Father. In other words to pray from the heart. Hope this helps. May God bless you abundantly!!

The bible says that:

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The prayer of faith has two parts, we pray hoping that God will answer, no one prayer can be 100% assured of an answer, for our prayer may not be God's will. But the prayer of faith is also the strong assurance that, be it God's will, we will definitely have the answer, for we know God answers our prayers. For this is it good to know the bible, for we will know what we can ask for.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Joh 16:23 ... Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

I will use myself as an example, with the coronavirus, there is always the thought "what if I get sick", but I stand on scripture that the LORD is my healer. And use verses like Psalm 91, which talk about God's protection for the believer. To me this is something I can have 100% faith in, well at least 99.999%, so when I start to feel a sore throat or runny none, I pray, that I be healed, and I believe I will be.

As for prayer, it matters not whether you have your eyes closed or open.
