Hi there,

I looked at the thread on this that referred to DVD's that seem to be no longer available on Youtube.

I found the summary very useful.

Now this material was made available several years ago - what is the best series available on Youtube today that encapsulates your theological position please.

I’ll just throw in (based on your post in the Romans 7 thread) that it’s super-important that what one believes not be a purely - or even primarily - individual and subjective thing. It HAS to be corporate - shared and lived on in common, and it has to be corporate and common over space and time - what has been believed everywhere from the beginning. Otherwise you have a private religion with a church of one that no one else can really belong to.

Yes for sure, healthy fellowship with other believers is critical.

And thanks particularly for your input.

My son is going into the ministry and has chosen to commit to an orthodox church.

My dialogue with him causes me to reach the conclusion that we hold common beliefs in most areas.

The best way to learn what Orthodoxy teaches is to experience her liturgical life. I suggest going to Divine Liturgy this Sunday, Presanctified Liturgies, Matins, Vespers. Our Church is best explained in its worship. Everything falls into place after starting there!

Google the pdf of the Divine Liturgy and you’ll learn a lot from the get go!

I’m not sure that my meaning was clear to you. I was NOT talking about mere fellowship, but about definitively shared beliefs and practices. That’s why we have, for example, the Symbol of Faith, aka the Nicene Creed.

Nor am I sure that you mean the same thing we do by “orthodox”, let alone “Orthodox”. In all events, it has to be something with actual power to correct ME, should I go wrong.

Yes understand, like I said I have independently come to believe in most of the creed and appreciate its centrality.

Yes for sure, authority to correct is pretty fundamental.

This is obviously not from YouTube but alot of sources that can be found from here that explain alot. As another here said though, it is best to learn from the Divine Liturgy itself. Keep in mind there is no centralized catechism like there are for various protestant churches or the Roman Catholic Church.

Journey to Orthodoxy

Army Matt also stated AFR, google Ancient Faith Radio and there are ALOT of awesome podcasts and stuff to read or listen to especially if you do a search on our beliefs. I hope I helped.
