Nothing I say is meant to be hateful. I am on one side of a diametrically opposed political spectrum. That by it's very nature it is divisive. Unless I agree to everything you say.

The politics and politicians. The vast majority of us do not hate anyone. Yet cannot stand the narratives pushed on us. We want to be vindicated for the character assassination we have endured. So we poke fun and laugh. Have a good time even tho we know as soon as we leave its back to the same old media and spin.

It's a respite. Blowing off steam, and having fun. Finally get to hang out with people that dont want to rip your clothes off and burn them. Spit in your face. Throw pee on you. Scream at you. Assassinate your character. Yeah, we talk smack in our own little forum, and then go back to our daily lives.

There is always going to be someone to accuse me. I have no intention of causing harm, emotional or otherwise.

I spend most of my time with people on the left (I do have right-leaning friends including Trump supporters). You know what I don't see any of them doing? Spitting on people's faces. Throwing pee on people. Screaming at people. Assassinating people's character.

You are amplifying behaviors of those you are politically against, claiming the actions of a miniscule minority represent the whole, while simultaneously ignoring any negative behaviors from those you align with. That is divisive, that is hateful, even if you didn't intend it as such.

It's shame that a simple appeal from you or anyone else here asking for civility can immediately be viewed as hateful.
It’s not the call for civility that is hateful. It’s everything before and after it.

A call for civility should include some amount of introspection and consideration that maybe you’re also part of the problem in your own way. I haven’t seen any of that here. Just more unfair attacks on the left as an homogeneous group, bereft of individuality. We’re not individuals, we are the left and we are hateful.

Well, the nutcases are the only ones that come to a Trump rally to oppose it. Or a prayer march, etc... You do not get some sweet old lady that has an educated discourse with you coming to a trump rally or march. I was thinking in that mind frame, and I'm sure not all trump supporters have ever experienced that either. I go to a lot of differnt events. I understand your point and the appearance I conveyed. That is something I actualy need to watch. Thank you for pointing it out.

I am divisive by the very nature of opposing your beliefs. That is going to happen.

I do not hate anyone, and it stands to reason I am not always explaining myself adequately.

When the calls for civility are surrounded by comments that are hateful and dishonest, the calls for civility are undermined and their motivations tainted with an air of disingenuousness.

For years, I have watched you, personally, (as well as many other conservatives here on CF) propagate all manner of falsehoods about political opponents and, when confronted with the truth, run away rather than acknowledge the error. If you want civility, start acting civil.

It's something we all need to watch. People tend to emphasize things that support their preconceptions and diminish things that go counter it.

I try to regularly challenge my own set of beliefs and assumptions. I find that participation in these forums tends to reaffirm/entrench one's beliefs then to effectively challenge them.

That's no way to react to your future president.

Feel the Bern.

I am not joking. They are not with it. My neighbors that live behind me are nationalised Trinidadian and Cuban. Maria who was born in Cuba wants nothing at all to do with the possibility of a socialist country.

I guess it's a good thing that Bernie isn't a real socialist.

This is not my first attempt. I tend to get beat back in a corner and have to come up out of it at some point. There is no need to be at each other throats. You personally are not even what a veiw as an issue.

Politics got nasty this cycle. I mean nasty.

Man I watch the cult of dusty. I am always trying to figure out why and what.

Let it slide man. Can we just be human beings for a sec without all the rivalry? I was talking about the concerns of my nextdoor neighbor. Whether or not you can prove what socialism is, means nothing to her. And that is what I was trying to discuss. Have democrats went so far down a certain path they have abandoned their traditional constituents. So focused on trump they forgot politics.

Think about this for a sec. I tell you a Cuban national is leaving the dem party out of fears of Bernie and you feel the need to correct whether or not bernie is a real socialist. What does that do for Maria? And how does that get her to vote for your candidate?

Do you even see what I am talking about?

It matters. Your neighbor may have been intentionally mislead to believe that what the Democrats want is the kind of socialism she rightly fears.

Last I heard, 'the Bern' was being told he has absolutely no chance of carrying Florida, not after his praise for the tyrant Castro.

That's what all the tin-horn Socialist dictators told the people before they got completely in position to secure absolute power. ;)

This is the point I am trying to convey. What is the Democratic message and who is getting it out? Who is responsible for getting it out?

What I hear is remove Trump from office / defeat him at polls, and socialism.

And poor Biden thinks he is running for the senate of Madagascar in 1852. I know that is an exaggeration, but the guy actual said he was running for the senate. Doesn't know where he is half the time. And even mentions world leaders from decades ago as present day. I would not allow my Dad to embarrass himself like that. It isn't fair to any elderly person. Mercy.

They are not happy. Not the handful of Cubans I know.

You don't hear "socialism" from the Democrats. What you hear from Democrats are a variety of policies and a general philosophy of skewing government assistance away from the wealthy towards the poor and middle class. You and your neighbor hear "socialism" from the right who've turned it into some sort of boogeyman strawman that they've weaponized against Democrats. That your Cuban neighbor hears Bernie Sanders and thinks "Castro" and not "Denmark" is entirely a product of right-wing propaganda.

IMO, what is going on sith sanders right now, is a mirror image to 4 years ago with trump.

No one thought trump had a prayer of winning the republican nomination, much less win the presidency. Establishment republicans thought he was a joke, until he started winning primaries and then they got scared.

The establishment democrats are having the same thoughts right now about sanders. What establishment politicians seem to still not get, is many americans are fed up with the elite/establishment politician. If people would swing so far to elect trump, people can also do the same for sanders, if there is enough motivation.
