Again, this contradicts the words of Christ, in that he did not ascend to the Father until 40 days after his resurrection

John 20:17 “Do not cling to Me,” Jesus said, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and tell My brothers, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’”

Peter even ties Jesus' not being abandoned to Hades by the resurrection. Peter explicitly associates the BOTH not being abandoned in Hades and His body not seeing decay to the resurrection.

Acts 2:31-32 Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did His body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses.

1 corinthians 15:35-38 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” You fool! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or something else. But God gives it a body as He has designed, and to each kind of seed He gives its own body.

Scripture is clear that we don't go to heaven naked.

2 corinthians 5:2-4 For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. So while we are in this tent, we groan under our burdens, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed, so that our mortality may be swallowed up by life.

As I said previously, the elect are not naked because they are attired in robes of righteousness when they rise to heaven in spirit upon death.

Paul's reference to be further clothed and not naked is in regards to the resurrection.
2 corinthians 5:4 For indeed we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened; not for that we would be unclothed, but that we would be clothed upon, that what is mortal may be swallowed up of life. Now he that wrought us for this very thing is God, who gave unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Additionally, the fine linen is associated with the marriage feast.
Revelation 19:8 Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Do you believe the marriage feast is occuring now, or is a future event?

Luke 23:32-49

32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

Matt 27:45-57

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

Before He dies
  • Jesus identifies Himself with our sin.
  • He is enveloped by darkness.
  • He is separated from God.
  • He promised Paradise to a repentant sinner that actual day (nowhere else during His 3 ½ yrs did He promise this)
He dies!
  • The veil is rent in 2.
  • The presence of God is released to the nations.
  • The saints released from Abraham’s bosom.
The temple rendered redundant

The renting of the veil just as Christ is giving up the ghost spelt the end of the old covenant and the introduction of the new covenant. God stepped out from behind that curtain and embraced all nations. God required no more animal sacrifices and the temple’s purpose had been completed.

Revelation 19:7-9 tells us, “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

The white garments are symbolic of righteousness of Christ in us!

When do we receive the righteousness of Christ? Upon salvation or the future second come in? Upon salvation!

1 Corinthians 1:30 tells us: “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Philippians 3:10: “not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

Ephesians 5:28-30 continues, ought men to love their wives … even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

Ephesians 5:25-27: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

James 1:27 describes the bride as Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father” and admonishes her “to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

The elect in heaven are now arrayed in white robes, awaiting the physical resurrection

Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

Rev 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Clearly “the marriage of the Lamb” to “his wife” is referring to the final consummation of the relationship between Christ and His bride – the Church – at the Second Coming. This woman with her innate purity is such a contrast to the harlot in the introductory verses that is judged. The two women couldn’t be more diverse. One is judged the other is blessed. The wife is the body of believers down through the years, which have placed their trust and eternity on the blood of Christ, whether in the old or the new economy.

The marriage union is the glorification feat where we are eternally changed in order to enjoy God forever – this is the final act of redemption. This is the marriage of the Lamb. In short, a prepared bride is made ready to unite with a prepared bridegroom. For this climactic event she is arrayed in the righteousness of Christ. This is her worthiness for marriage.

When do you see the marriage of the Lamb happening, in regards to the following 3 events? 1) Before or during/after the the beginning of the new heavens and a new earth? 2) Before or during the rapture of the church? 3) Before or after the great white throne judgment?

Can you show a time line for Daniel 9:24-27...
So I can see if Antiochus is the one describe in Daniel 9:27..thanks

Its useful when we realise that the 'weeks' are the Sabbatical cycle of years. The Antiochus abomination actually happened in the 42nd week. Anyway, here is a timeline.

Okay sorry about that...maybe I use the explanation Jesus gave of the one standing in the holy place in reference to Daniel, in Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14... 'the Abomination that causes desolation '...

No problem...the Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 abomination of desolation refer to the Roman armies invading and desolating the holy city of Jerusalem, as explained previously in post 743; and confirmed by Luke 21:20. These are in turn the fulfillment of the Daniel 9:27 abominations (Roman armies) with which he (Messiah) shall make it (Jerusalem) desolate, again a confirming reference to the Roman armies which were Messiah's instruments of judgment and destruction.

According to the book of Daniel though, the abomination that causeth desolation takes the daily sacrifice away. In what way did the Romans do that in the first century?

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

These are all speaking of the same events, in my opinion, and that these are meaning the AOD Jesus was meaning in the Discourse.

When did Jesus come into his kingdom?

Christ is the embodiment of kingdom. Wherever you see Him you see the manifestation of the kingdom. Jesus declared in Matthew 6:33, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Clearly “the marriage of the Lamb” to “his wife” is referring to the final consummation of the relationship between Christ and His bride – the Church – at the Second Coming.

According to the Parable of Jesus, the servants gather the good and the bad to the wedding feast post the destruction of Jerusalem.

Matthew 22:7-10 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.

This is consistent with the prostitute, which is symbolic for 1st century Jerusalem, as being destroyed, followed by the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Revelation 19:7-9 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

And the angel saida to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God

The two women couldn’t be more diverse. One is judged the other is blessed. The wife is the body of believers down through the years, which have placed their trust and eternity on the blood of Christ, whether in the old or the new economy.

I am in absolute agreement.

I agree.

I am in absolute agreement.

But how does this relate to the resurrection? Paul is clearly referencing the resurrection when he states "to be further clothed".

2 Corinthians 5:4-5 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

And when would God avenge the blood of the saints and prophets? According to Jesus, on 1st century Jerusalem.

Matthew 23:35-36 so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah,f whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

This is clearly in regards to the resurrection. For it takes place AFTER the tribulation

Revelation 7:14-16 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
“Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.

I am in absolute agreement.

I agree.

Post after post is obsessed with AD70 and the coming of Titus. The rest of us are obsessed with the coming of Christ and creation's deliverance from the bondage of corruption on the last day.

Christ is the embodiment of kingdom. Wherever you see Him you see the manifestation of the kingdom. Jesus declared in Matthew 6:33, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Where was Jesus when he received the kingdom?

Daniel 7:13-14 “I saw in the night visions,

and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before him.
And to him was given dominion
and glory and a kingdom
,
that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve him;
his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
that shall not be destroyed.

Luke 19:12 He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.

When would Jesus come into his kingdom?

Luke 23:42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

So, you honestly don't believe the red highlighted verse is about Jerusalem's destruction in 66-70ad?

Matthew 22:7-10 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.

Both the prostitute and 1st century Jerusalem was charged with all the righteous bloodshed. Or do you believe there are other entities in history charged with all the righteous blood shed?

Revelation 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of all who have been slain on earth.”

Matthew 23:35-36 so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah,f whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

So Jesus was wrong, then when he said had not ascended to the Father after his resurrection?

There is a difference between His spirit ascending to His Father upon death, and His body 40 days after the resurrection. Because you do not see both occurring with us, you force that upon Christ also. Nevertheless, both occurred to Him, and both will occur with us.
