The flat earth model predicted that on 1/25/2020 2:00 PM (Local True Solar Time) at a latitude of 40.5° N the azimuth of the Sun would be 230.5°. The globe earth model predicted the azimuth would be 211.12°. I measured the azimuth of the sun to be 211°. The flat earth prediction came from the following formula.
EQ3AJPQU8AA4wCW

E is the distance from the north pole to the equator, Φ is the observer's latitude, d is the declination of the sun, and t is the time since solar noon in hours. How do flat earthers explain the 19.5° discrepancy between the flat earth model and reality?

The Earth being flat was debunked ages upon ages ago but ppl love getting hooked on conspiracy theories no matter how dumb, lame & false they are so it's once again resurfaced.

There's a satire forum that parodies this one, ppl label themselves Flat Earthers there. It's mocking Christians, but unfortunately Christians bring on that mockery.

Usually rounding errors.
Do you drink at all? If you do we could blame that.

The instrument I used to measure the azimuth of the Sun was my phone's compass (Yamaha YAS539 Magnetometer). It has a precision of ±0.0028647889112°. The app I was using had a precision of ±0.5° due to rounding.

If the Earth is flat; how do the poles have months of of no sunrise and subsequent months of no sun set?

That only works on a spherical planet.

Precisely, the Earth is a spherical planet. I do not think the Earth is flat.

Why do you think we bring mockery upon ourselves? Are you referring to all Christians or to a specific subset?

Bc that's precisely what the specific subset who invite mockery by insisting the Earth is flat are doing.

You can't debunk a flat Earth. The Flat Earthers believe everybody is out to get them, and all evidence of a globe is fake.

Your careful measurements are automatically assumed to be false.

There's also the fact that there's no one accepted 'flat earth model'. They'll just accuse you of using an inaccurate one and never explain how to correct it.

This is the hallmark of conspiracy theories. Anything that appears to contradict the theory is a part of the conspiracy. Thus making them impossible to debunk.

I have experienced this myself during debates (that feel more like intellectual dumpster fires) with flat earthers. However, if the evidence you present is not labelled as a part of the conspiracy, then they will usually resort to extremely poor ad hoc explanations that fall apart upon cursory examination.

Dumpster fires? You must be feeling generous today.

They don't. They will however link to an hour-long YouTube video about Flat Earth.

The flat earth model predicted

THE flat earth model?

We only wish there was any consensus about what a flat earth model actually was. Most flat earthers do not have any model to share, just criticisms of oblate spheroidism.

I don't believe in the flat Earth BUT, they do have a model and it is biblically based. I disagree with their interpretation and how they arrive to their model but it's not correct that they have no model. It's basically the Earth like a coin with a dome over it they believe is the biblical firmament.

Oh that's easy. Flat Earthers do not do trigonometry. They will simply dismiss the math.

It is so easy to "refute" an argument if one is willing to reject all advanced reasoning.

You don't need azimuth measurements to see evidence that the planet is spherical (or, to be more accurate, spheroidical.) Just watch a cruise ship sailing away from port on a clear day with a good pair of binocs. As the ship departs, you first lose sight of the hull. As it gets farther away, the superstructure disappears. Finally, all you can see are the the topmost parts of the masts, until they're also gone from view. If the ship was sailing on a flat surface, the image would get smaller and smaller, but the entire ship would still be visible. That never happens. The ship always disappears from view in stages, starting with the lowest parts to the highest. That's only possible if the vessel is on a downward trajectory as the distance from the observer increases. Which indicates that it's sailing away on a convexly curved surface.
