It isn't an "approach" to Christianity that you are lacking, but simply genuine Christianity. Such unauthorized conflicting manmade denominations will never satisfy anyone who is seeking the fullness of God's truth, because it doesn't exist there. Jesus Christ founded one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church the fullness of God's truth until the end of time. He promised that one Church "The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth", and "Whatsoever you bind upon Earth is bound in Heaven", and "He who hears you hears Me". And that is where you will find total satisfaction and total truth. That is where you will find what you are seeking.

I am looking for an approach to Christianity that works. I've tried many churches, many popular pastors like Joel Osteen, Andy Stanley, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, and others, and many approaches. It seems like with a lot of them you have to do 1000 things right before you can expect an answer to your prayer - tithe, forgive, believe, don't wear your clothes inside out (Lol) and a thousand other things! Does anyone have an approach that works for them - that consistently results in answered prayers!

Thanks
I simply surrender to God's will and ask for what I want. I trust in his goodness and in his wisdom which are both greater than mine. I either get what I ask for, or I don't, according to his will. And I let him correct me mid-prayer when he has a mind to.

Don't treat God like a genie.

Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself.

Forget about all that other stuff you listed off

All of them are scammers. All of these 1000 things just all lead to the same thing "donate". That is it. You really think God gave them their million $ suits, there multi-million church chains, their sports cars, and all that?

If I prayed for a sick person to survive, but he/she died anyway, how did I get what I asked for?

That's a good question, and how we answer it will heavily influence how well we can carry out the Great Commission. I think all of us should pray for good answers on this one.:crosseo:

Personally, I've found much help in just spending quiet time with God, especially in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Just spending an hour a day in silence with God has been an incredible experience for my life, as I'm so much more at peace with so many things. My prayers still don't regularly do as I wish them to, but my time with God gives me much less concern over whether or not my prayers are answered as I desire, because I know Him better now, and I more fully trust in what He has planned. Have you ever thanked God for not answering a prayer as you used to desire? I do that a lot when my prayers about girls are involved! ^_^ In any case, I understand, and I think all of us understand, that we don't really know what's best for us. Just being with God helps us realize that we don't have to spend so much time worrying about it, so much as we should just be with Him, be at peace, and focus our desires on good things, as best as we understand what "good" is.

May we continue to see God's blessings in all circumstances!

It is because God is sovereign and not a vending machine. If the person you have prayed for is a believer, then they have gone straight into the presence of the Lord, which is far better.

There is no guarantee that God will automatically give us everything we ask for, because His wisdom is higher than ours. What is guaranteed is what the Scripture says in Philippians 4:6-7.
"Be not anxious for anything but by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving make your requests known to God, and the peace of God that passes all understanding will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus."
So, whether God grants your request or not, the result of approaching God and making your request is that He will fill you with peace in that you can trust Him to do His sovereign will. If the fact that the person died in spite of your prayer causes you to be disappointed with God and your faith in Him is negatively affected, it means that you do not have perfect trust in Him as Lord and that He is sovereign, and that He does everything right.

What does 'that works' mean exactly?

As a Christian, we are called to worship God, spread love and spread the gospel/stand up for the faith.
Read your Bible, pray and do what God leads you to do. You don't need to do anything to pray, you just pray.
For a start, stop listening to Kenneth Copeland. Don't know the others, but if they are also preaching the heretical health, wealth and property teaching, toss it all.

Mark 12:30-31
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

2 Timothy 2:24-26
And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

If you are praying for something in particular it needs to be in God's will for you. Perhapes you are praying for something that God has said no to.
1 John 5:14
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Give me an example prayer you would pray for a sick person, and I will tell you how you got what you prayed for.

If we ask for bread will He give us a stone? If our earthly fathers know how to give their children what they ask for, how much more will our heavenly Father be able to do?

There is a difference in worshipping idols and worshipping the living God......the living God always answers and as always give you what you ask for. Idols tell you no most of the time and if you get a yes....it is happenstance..... and can not be proven that it would not of happened anyway, regardless of your prayer to the wood and stone.

The living God is not like idols

If you take this from Him.....no one can ever know if/when they are serving the One God.

All sounds good in theory, but the reality is that God doesn't always give us what we ask for. James says that we have not because we ask not (granted), but when we do ask, we ask for things to consume them on our lusts. That is a principal reason why we ask for stuff and God doesn't give it. We ask for things according to our will, instead of God's will.

Jesus is real. I am not like most. All you listed.. I can see Jesus in them. So I can listen to them but don't agree with all the teach. Jesus IS REAL! You pick up that book.. ask Him to help you see to understand.. and KNOW that you KNOW that you KNOW He hears you. And at you read.. just believe as if He was standing there telling you to your face. They are words of life. They don't get old, don't die, expire..

There is no one group out there thats the REAL true one. We have Christ ..not turn around.. YEAH see all those TENTS? Most KNOW they are the REAL true gospel. :) Its ok. As long as Jesus came in the flesh died on the cross for the worlds sin. Was buried. Rose the 3rd day. Is the only way to the Father.

You focus on HIM not people. Love Him seek Him.. love each other. On and on. Take that step in faith. Where you can't hear see feel. Not what any man says..its what the BOOK says!

The only worthy "approach" to Christianity is follow Jesus not people.
Read your Bible and in it you will find how we are to live, test all that you are told with what Scripture says.
God is not a sort of fairy godmother waiting to do what we want of Him.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Stay close to Jesus, John 15:4.
Be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18.
Seek first God's kingdom, Matthew 6:33
Desire God's will, Ephesians 5:17.
Pray in Jesus' name, John 14:13
Ask the Spirit to pray for that will to be done, Romans 8:27.

Accept that "no" and "wait" are also answers to prayer.
If you are praying only for things that you want, and trying all kinds of things - giving, fasting etc - to "get" God to give you these things; you have probably missed the point. God knows what's best for everyone and can be trusted as our loving heavenly Father, to give his children what is best for them, Luke 11:13.

The best approach to Christianity that works is the approach to Christianity according to the Bible. As for these charlatans you've mentioned, I wouldn't bother wasting my time listening to them.

Yes. I pray, strive, by the grace of God, to do the work that he calls me to do, and leave the results to him.

Are you sure that you're not just dissatisfied with the answers you're getting? God isn't a vending machine, no matter what some famous preacher might say.

If you want prayer answered the approach is in the scriptures:

1 John 3:22 whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases him.
And
Pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
John 16:23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Some people pray to Jesus but that isn't what he, himself taught.
