That was so good to read, as we were not able to go to Church today, it has been a challenging day for Peter.This morning the wind was blowing a gale and I could see fast ripples running across the surface of the canal as I walked up the towpath to the church. It felt pleasantly mild, but then came the rain which made everything seem much cooler.
Today's theme at church was about us letting our light shine before all men. The first reading was taken from Isaiah 58:7-10
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
Psalm 112:4-9
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Matthew 5:14-15
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
We sang a hymn I hadn't heard for quite a while "Walk in the light"

Anthony,I enjoy your posts so much! Always interesting and edifying!Definitely time for the summer. Winter has been going on too long now!
At least the days seem to be getting longer now.
Already thinking forward to the lighter evenings, drinking coffee and eating out on the balcony, the evening bike rides, walks along the canal. Even meeting up with friends for social events. I've been thinking of getting some friends together this summer and going to a Ceilidh - they're such good fun and part of the fun is getting it all wrong!
