Maybe it would be better phrased, Is is edifying? rather than to ask if it is a sin when watched in whatever circumstances...I don't consider ghost or horror movies to be good for a Christian to watch.
When all is said and done, if you have to question it, then perhaps you are being convicted by the Holy Spirit.
Questioning whether its OK seems to indicate that you aren't totally comfortable with it.
That's a good indication in itself.
Yes, I think that would be a better way of putting it.Maybe it would be better phrased, Is is edifying? rather than to ask if it is a sin when watched in whatever circumstances...
God did design you to feel fear. You're to fear the Lord first and foremost, but fear is an emotional system given to you to recognize and be able to respond to danger. God gave you and most animals adrenaline to recognize danger and be able to fight it or flee from it. God also designed you to to an extent, derive pleasure out of recognizing you are safe and no longer in danger. Like if you skydive, the fall puts you in danger, the chute opens, you realize you are safe, the activity becomes enjoyable. Same thing with a rollercoaster, or horror movie, or jump scare of any kind. You feel a sense of danger, then relief and levity when the danger passes.God does not give you the spirit of fear. Think. Where would it come from? Intentional scary movies and shows, do you really think Jesus is applauding you by watching them?
Not EXACTLY the best test. People ask about things because there hasn't been any new scripture for almost 2000 years, and we have technologies and concepts that did not relate to the lives of people in the first century or before. If something's not expressly in scripture, but we do it, then it's a given that we will question whether it's okay in the eyes of God or not. That isn't necessarily conviction by the Holy Spirit it could just be "I don't have scripture that specifically covers this".I don't consider ghost or horror movies to be good for a Christian to watch.

If you go by that your entire life is extremely limited, basically praying, reading the bible and no other books, singing psalms and hymns, evangelizing, going to church... and that's pretty much it.Maybe it would be better phrased, Is is edifying? rather than to ask if it is a sin when watched in whatever circumstances...
