We kinow the story of how when the Ark was made which represented G-ds throne the L-RD told Moses to put three things in it.

The ten words
Aarons Staff
and a
Pot of Manna

So we have a engraved Sapphire like Stone
A Almond stick that budded and that belonged to Aaron
A pot filled with nurishment

The stone would stand the test of time as would the words engraved upon them

But what about the other things?

Aarons rod was the symbol of who G-d choose to be the tribe that would be the Priests in his service.

However wood only has a certain life expectancy.
I found this about Almond wood
Almond wood burns very hot and long. It burns clean, with relatively low smoke and produces little ash compared to oak. Almond is great for home heating in a wood stove or fireplace.
Typically, artifacts of wood rot and are gone in a relatively short period of time. Some larger wooden artifacts may last as long as 100 years or so, but in special environments like muck, ice or dry caves, artifacts have been known to last for hundreds or even thousands of years.

Possibly it could have been preserved in the ark which was covered both inside and out with Gold.

But the manna?

And Moses said to Aaron, Take a pot and put one omer of manna in it, and put
it away before the Lord, to be kept for future generations. ..

An omer equals about :

In traditional Jewish standards of measurement, the omer was equivalent to the capacity of 43.2 eggs

It's about 3 and a third pounds
An omer of manna was the amount supposed to be gathered for each person, every day except on the 6th day when it was double..

So a good amount but remember this part:

19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
21 And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.

Now it seems it was something that didn't last long, except on the Eve of Shabbat. So how was this preserved in a pot for future generations?

God must have chosen to preserve it, yes, just like He did for each week's Shabbat?

it may only needed to be preserved until Jesus came---for He is the bread of life.
Aarons rod also would no longer be needed, for Jesus is our High Priest--and He is not of Aaron but of Melchizedek.
Don't know if they are all in the Heavenly Ark---but the testament is--the 10-

Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Forgot to address, Why the manna was in the ark.

An evangelist once told me that the manna was the provision for Israel on a day to day basis. That's why it melted, it would be provided again the next day.

This is a type of the coming Messiah, a reminder that He will provide for His Children on a day to day basis.

Were they placed in the Ark of the Covenant for worldly reasons or for spiritual reasons? No one could even touch the Ark, so I doubt that it would be for worldly reasons.

Hey Lulav, I've heard that the purpose of the lulav is a teaching aid. Is it possible that these items were put in the Ark of the Covenant to teach us something?

Let's look at the staff first.

Who carries a staff?

A shepherd carries a staff.

What did our shepherd say about the other two items in the Ark of the Covenant?

(CLV) Mt 4:4
Yet He, answering, said, "It is written, `Not on bread alone shall man be living, but on every declaration going out through the mouth of God.'"

In the presence of G-d..... nothing decomposes or dies!

So... assuming the restoration of the Ark of the Covenant being included in the "restoration of all things" it seems like humanity will soon be given powerful evidence that our Creator is real.... and the Bible is inspired............

Why was Manna In the Ark?
He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did
your fathers know
, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone,
but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the Mouth of the L-RD.
(Dt 8:3)

The L-RD commanded it
Exodus 16:32-34 (JPS Tanakh 1917)
32 And Moses said: 'This is the thing which the L-RD hath commanded: Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations; that they may see the Bread wherewith I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.'
33 And Moses said unto Aaron: 'Take a jar, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before the L-RD, to be kept throughout your generations.'
34 As the L-RD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

Apparently, the intent was for generations to see the Bread. But that plan didn't work out so well as the Living Bread that came down to earth wasn't able to remain for even 40 years.

Yes, I had thought of that Dennis, being in the ark it would be under special protection but would exposure to air disintegrate it? I also read somewhere that when the ark came back from the pHilistines capture of it the only thing remaining in it were the tablets.

It's interesting to think that the ark was a replica of the throne in heaven.

Is there anything inside of that one I wonder?

Wasn't that a reality almost 2000 years ago as well as today for Believers and Followers of Yeshua HaMashiach / Christ Jesus ?

OK, see that you are referring to the Lost Sheep of Israel that are still waiting for their Messiah to soon establish His Kingdom on earth as well as Messianic Judaism having been grafted onto the cultivated Olive Tree ~ as witnesses to the Lost Sheep proclaiming that Yeshua Mashiach is ALIVE! Just as did the 1st Century Jewish Believers and Followers of Yeshua HaMashiach.

Zechariah 8:23
The L-RD of Hosts says this: "In those days, 10 men from nations of every language will grab the robe of a Jewish man tightly, urging: Let us go with you, for we have heard that G-D is with you."
Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is G-D’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile.
17 For in it is revealed how God makes people righteous in His sight; and from beginning to end it is through trust — as the Tanakh puts it, “But the person who is righteous will live his life by trust.” (Habakkuk 2:4; Proverbs 3:5-6)

Yes, of course it was commanded, but I was wondering about the 'shelf life' basically and how something that lasted only one day (except on Shabbat) would last for generations.. :)

?? not sure what you mean by that?

The manna didn't quite last for 40 years either, but stopped once they crossed over.

Manna represented the Bread of Life being the Word of G-D (John 1:1-3,14) that sustained the Israelites for 40 years before arriving in the land of "milk and honey". Their clothing and footwear did not wear out over those 40 years.

My understanding of "lasting for generations" (translated from Hebrew) that was the original intent, but Israel strayed leading to the destruction of both Temples on the 9th of Av. ... Psalm 14:1-3 and Romans 3:10-12
?? not sure what you mean by that?

Isaiah 53:8 (JPS 1917 Tanakh)
By oppression and judgment he was taken away, And with his generation who did reason? For he was cut off out of the land of the living, For the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due.
Psalm 88:5
I Am forsaken among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom You remember no more, who are cut off from Your care.
Isaiah 53:5
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Jeremiah 11:19
For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had plotted against me: "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name will be remembered no more."

Matthew 26:39
Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will."
Matthew 26:42
A second time He went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done."
Mark 14:36
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
John 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 8:28,42
Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I Am He, and that I do nothing of myself; but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things…
John 14:10
Believest thou not that I Am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the Words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works.
John 18:11
"Put your sword back in its sheath!" Jesus said to Peter. "Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given Me?"

Acts 7:55–56; Romans 8:34; Ephesians 1:20; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 8:1; Hebrews 10:12; Hebrews 12:2; 1 Peter 3:22; Revelation 3:21; Matthew 22:44; Acts 2:33 ...

"Sat down, Seated, Exalted at the Right Hand Of G-D" is a Hebrew idiom signifying that there is only One L-ORD and G-D. John 10:30 "I and the Father and are One" ...

Why didn't Yeshua say, "The Father and I are One" as we're taught that it's not good sentence structure to begin a sentence with "I" and yet at least 7 times in John's gospel Yeshua refers to Himself as I Am.

Do you not yet know what is meant by His Life being cut short? Do you not yet know why He was unable to live "quite" long enough to see his 40th birthday while on earth?

Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile.

The L-RD G-D raised His friend Lazarus after 4 days, the L-RD G-D'S SP-R-T raised Yeshua in 3 days. After nearly 2,000 years the L-RD G-D'S SP-R-T still opens blind eyes, deaf ears, is able to raise a friend and a friend's friend to life again and offers salvation to those that obey Him with the indwelling presence of His SP-R-T to Glorify the L-RD G-D ... not to glorify His servant (Acts 14:11-19).

Why is it so impossible for the L-RD G-D to preserve manna (represents the Bread of Life) from heaven for a people if they are trustworthy and faithful. After all did not the L-ORD G-D create the heavens with His Word (Genesis 1:3 and John 1:1-3 and John 1:14). If HaShem can preserve Lulav for eternity can He not preserve manna for generations? If only His people would have obeyed His commandments, but His life was cut short 7 years before Yeshua was 40 years on earth.

John 21:25
And there are also many other things which Yeshua did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.

There is only one thing that is impossible for the L-RD G-D to do. The L-RD G-D can't lie.

Note: Being there is only One L-RD G-D it would seem reasonable to also be consistent with SP-R-T when referring to HaShem.

Perhaps the manna was there to sustain 2 companions during their journey.

What to do with almond fruits..?

I don't believe he was referring to that. :)
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth, so that you have a sincere love for your brothers, love each other deeply, with all your heart. 23 You have been born again not from some seed that will decay, but from one that cannot decay, through the living Word of God that lasts forever.

Shemot reminds me of a vessel worthy of memory along with an almond fruit of fire.
Exodus 12:10

20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning,
