The FBI arrested and charged an alleged Las Vegas neo-Nazi with plotting to bomb a synagogue and gay club in the city on Thursday.

Conor Climo, 23, who worked as a security guard, allegedly was found to be in possession of bomb-making materials and was "communicating with individuals who identified with a white supremacist extremist organization using the National Socialist Movement to promote their ideology," according to the FBI.

The Las Vegas Joint Terrorism Task Force began investigating Climo in April, according to the criminal complaint, after it learned he was communicating with Atomwaffen Division, a white supremacist neo-Nazi group.

Thank you to that task force for their good work & preventing another domestic terrorist attack.

"AWD encourages attacks on the federal government, including critical infrastructure, minorities, homosexuals, and Jews," the complaint states. "AWD works to recruit like-minded members to the organization, train them in military tactics, hand to hand combat, bomb making, and other techniques in preparation for an 'ultimate and uncompromising victory' in a race war."

The FBI used a confidential informant to begin discussing weapons and explosives on an encrypted chat app and eventually quoted Climo "regularly us[ing] derogatory racial, anti-Semitic, and homosexual slurs."

So many 'lone wolves'.....

Yeah, you think they belonged to a pack or something...

I'm glad he was thwarted before he could go on his shooting rampage.

I think it would be good to have a collection thread for those. There will be a lot more of those in the near future.

Wish I could tell you that you're wrong about that, but you're not. I fear you're correct.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 14.

Certain folks don't seem to cope well with the loss of preferential treatment in society, and view "no longer being placed on a societal pedestal" with some sort of attack on them, and feel the need to lash out...as if that's going to bring back their comfort-zone status quo of 30-40 years ago.

I fear that these things will happen for a while until certain groups are finally able to digest the reality that they don't get to be "above" everyone else simply because of religious preferences or immutable characteristics.

Prisons are a good thing.
In some locations they are...(though, the number of those locations in the US are dwindling in favor of for-profit prisons)

In others, where they're run "for profit" by private entities, and Judges are allowed invest in those entities and have "skin in the game", so to speak, they can be ineffective and unethical and end up producing a worse person once they get out than they were when they went in.

If this guy ends up in one of those prisons (that are being run for profit...meaning zero focus on rehabilitation, and simply housing as many people as possible, for as cheaply as possible)...there's a good chance he's just going to end up joining an Aryan group in prison and come out being even more hateful than before.

(in many cases "white boys", even ones who weren't white supremacists going in, end up becoming that way simply because joining white power groups in prison is about the only way to avoid getting regularly abused by rival groups in prison)

Private jails and prisons seem to not be working out to well. California State prisons are tuff places. It's where some need to be. Out here on the streets they pray on innocent people.

Lots of them do, at least online. Lots of ideological companionship.

The worst ones tend to recruit that way... they attract misfits, malcontents, and screwups, give them a place to belong and fit in, and then start in with the "Hey, isn't it terrible how those darn Jews, gays, blacks, etc... ruined the world and made your life miserable? Some of us are thinking about doing something about that... you in?"

And the incels, etc...True, it happens all across the ideological spectrum... the point being that they were recruited because they were screwed up to begin with.

And the incels, etc...True, it happens all across the ideological spectrum... the point being that they were recruited because they were screwed up to begin with.

A year or so back a video began to circulate on the internet.

It's a cartoon showing a teenage boy who is being harassed, shunned, and generally getting trod upon by society for being "different". This all changes when a trio of alt right peeps find him and reach out to him. Soon, his grades are going up, he's getting buff, and now that he's an adult he's rolling with them. Before too long, he's got an honest job, is married to a woman he "saved" from lesbianism, and owns his own home.

Sounds ridiculous, right?

Except... That's how things happen for a lot of people. It's not so much that they're "screwed up" as it is they feel that they and theirs have been wronged somehow.

Consider for example actor Liam Neeson. Last year he admitted that after a female friend was raped by some black men he spent the next several months going into primarily black neighborhoods and trolling for fights. In his eyes, it didn't matter who he started fighting; everyone was just as guilty of what happened to his friend. It took some time for him to realize how foolish and petty he was being.

Think about the guy whose job just got shipped off to China.

Or the guy who follows every female-written advice guide he can find on how to appeal to the ladies but is still told he's not what anyone is looking for.

Or the guy who didn't get promoted because the EEOC said his company didn't have enough women / minorities in that particular management position.

Or the guy who opened up his newspaper and read about the horrors of Rotherham -> Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal - Wikipedia .

Or the guy who has had one too many "woke" types tell him that as a white male all he's good for is cleaning their boots and giving them money. (No, seriously; there are videos showing members of various black supremacist groups going up to white people and demanding that they be given cash as instant reparations.)

Or the guy whose leftist neighbors treat him like he's a hideous monster because he's a military veteran.

Or the guy whose kin just had their land stolen or poisoned by a corrupt bureaucrat / businessman / environmentalist / what have you.

Et cetra.

These people are going to be driven by fear, anger, or some combination thereof. But regardless of what they're feeling, society is as a whole going to want to tell them to just suck it up and move on.

That's when these different groups come in and tell them that it's OK for them to feel like they do, that they were indeed done wrong, and that if they hang with the group things will turn around for them.

Oh, the whole "Let's punch Nazis!" bit you see from so many people on the Left? Yeah; that's just going to reinforce the decision these people have made to join these groups, as they see the people who wronged them wanting to use violence to further suppress them.

People that end up radical ideological zealots don't have to start off life screwed up. Many get indoctrinated into this kind of garbage because they are easily convinced that their own failures must be someone else's fault.

Precisely. They're either screwed up or in a screwed up situation... someone comes along and offers them a place to belong... while letting them know who they can blame.

Yep it all starts with the need to find someone to blame.
