Just saying. There are also those who say that the evidence for Darwinian evolution, cataclysmic climate change in the near future, etc. is overwhelming. I'm not going to try to argue for or against this. Just pointing out that the same folks who tend to ridicule many Christians on other topics are quick to do the same on this topic.
It's not the belief in a flat Earth that's being mocked in this case, but the belief in the anti-flat Earth conspiracy, for which conspiracy no evidence has been offered or any motive suggested.

Many of the same organizations and institutions making the most effort to mock, ridicule, and marginalize those who question a billions-year-old earth, evolution, climate change hysteria, and a generally anti-human map of the future go out of their way to do the same to those who question the shape of the earth.
True, bit hardly surprising. While I would say my own ridiculing is of the ideas, not the individuals who hold them, but the reason to do so is the vast body of evidence supporting deep time, common descent and anthropogenic climate change.

I don't understand what you mean by a "generally anti-human map of the future". I hope it is not the arrogant, anthropocentric view that values humans to the exclusion of the condition of the biosphere. That's probably the surest way to put an end to humanity.

There are a growing number of far-fringe voices calling for people to basically stop having kids. Voices urging people to kill themselves may not be far off. These voices are few and far between for now, but the more people buy into "we only have ___ more years!!!!:eek::eek:" hysteria, the more sensible some of these voices may seem to a growing number of people.

I will presume that you are not suggesting that the planet is not overpopulated. I will presume that you recognise, as a consequence, that we are drawing down on the resource account of the planet at an alarming rate. I am disappointed to see that you apparently do not recognise that, if we continue as we are, then we have a limited time before we face global disasters on a frightening scale. That is not hysteria. That is a simple reading of the facts.

Now, the good news is that the rate of increase of the world's population is decreasing. In many part of the West the population itself is declining. As standards of living increase and life expectancy rises, people have fewer children. The expectation is that around the end of this century the global population will stabilise. That, however, requires that we do the right things now to constrain climate change. There are many people of all countries, cultures, religions, races, ages and genders who are ready do those things now. And yet, seemingly, you consider this viewpoint to be anti-human. How ironic.

It's possible. I'm going to get stuff thrown at me for saying this, but I have an open mind on the issue. It's possible.

I'm not saying it's flat. I'm just saying I wouldn't be so quick to ridicule those who wonder if it is.

@SeventyOne

The overwhelming majority of evidence supports a globe earth just as it supports an earth that is billions of years old.

If you look at FE proponents specifically on this forum, all they do is talk about how deluded everyone else is, while at the same time avoiding answering any criticisms of FE ideas.

Given their behavior, they seem to be little more than your garden variety internet trolls. And given that many people openly admit to trolling people by pretending to be Flat Earthers, it seems like a safe bet to treat them as such.

I think most Flat Earthers on this forum are sincere about their belief in a flat Earth... but insincere in their acceptance of science or evidence.
And insincere in their treatment of others.

Are you not understating the case for a globe somewhat?

Personally I have seen zero evidence that does not support a globe Earth. Does any evidence exist for a flat Earth?

About the only thing I've seen is when people hold up flat edges like rulers to the horizon and declare it appears flat.

Now granted based on the relative size of the Earth and scale of curvature, such measurements are inherently flawed when it comes to concluding the Earth is flat. But that could arguably qualify as evidence of a flat Earth, as limited as it is.

Prior to our understanding of gravity the improbability of people in Australia not falling off would have favoured a flat Earth. I suspect there are a host of similar examples, but all either easily refuted and, unlike the evidence for a globe, not mutually supportive.

I'd argue that for a discussion such as this that what we are looking for is evidence that is consonant with one idea but not the other. There seem to be plenty ideas/observations that work with the global paradigm but not FE.

That I have not seen. Flat Earthers need to reinvent everything right down to basic geometry to try to get their ideas to work.

My thoughts exactly. The ruler thing is consonant with both FE and globe earth. Per my requirements, it is not 'evidence' for a flat earth since it is perfectly reasonable to expect a spherical Earth (given its dimensions) to exhibit this phenomenon.

a generally anti-human map of the future

I don't think that asking people to act responsibility and give some thought to future generations is 'anti-human', although that kind of idea is popular in some conservative circles, it seems. Being wary of the idea that you can just do whatever you like and grab what you can now isn't anti-human either. Do you think that people who try to get their kids to behave responsiblity and not get into bad or harmful habits are 'anti-children'?

Evolution has nothing to say about God. It may conflict with the beliefs of a minority of Christians, but if their faith is so easily shaken they're not really believing in Jesus as the son of God, are they, and they'd probably be led away by any number of things.

Not son of God, the Bible says Son of God.

Lemme guess, you don't think we went to the moon, either?

So how did they go through Van Allen Radiation Belt? Just want to understand.

I'd love to hear SeventyOne explain why those three live webcam links that I cited never show that it's daylight or nighttime in all three cameras at the same time.

So it's not possible that's just a video loop or it's live 24/7?

Except you won't. One aspect of the Flat Earth movement is a complete lack of any experts in any field who support FE.

Could you, or anyone (Scientist, or Flat Earther) answer these questions in Job 38? The New International Version

No one told me anything about it, I could see it clearly using my own eyes. I’ve posted this before, but never got a meaningful response...

How long does it take to fly from Sydney to Buenos Aries?
How long does it take to fly from Sydney to Toronto?

How do those times / distances compare to the distances on the globe us 'sheep' use and the flat earth map you free-thinkers use?

Why is it that Toronto appears to be much closer to Sydney Than B Aires is when it is actually almost 4000km further away? Why is this verified by commercial flight times.

Please don’t pretend that you’ve answered this in the past, or ask me to search for explanations on line.

Interesting. Could you give me the flight numbers, and where to find these flights? I'd like to check that out.
