My friend believes she can become a god one day. Though God says (I read this to her) "Before me no god was formed, no shall there be any after me. and her response to me was this:

In this scripture he He is not saying that he will not have God when we die, but he refers during the time we live on earth, which means that we cannot idolize people, such as singers and movie actors. And the reason for saying that only he is God is because he wants to show that only through him can we be cleansed from our sins because of the atonement. And who made the atonement was Jesus Christ in the garden of getsemani, he was a God which means there are more gods

How should I respond to this?

Read John 1:1 to her..."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
And John 1:14..."And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Jesus was the Word, not God.
The Mormon version of the bible has changed the words to institute a false policy of being gods themselves. They added one crucial word to John 1:1...the word "a".
Their reworded version says..."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was "a" God."
Sinister?

Just love on them, politely use their own books against them. Here are 6 books on both mormon and jehovah's witnesses that are free online:
