Who can tell me what this means and what, if any, realities in a child's life it demonstrates and how does the teaching of original sin fit into this?

Matthew 18:10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven."

I rejected original sin as a new Christian.

Years of observing people, getting to understand my own messed-up nature better, and watching childrens' behavior in grocery stores has convinced me that yes, original sin is True.

Not that God does not love and have a special love for children. Not that little children can not be recipients of grace and salvation. But simply that we are born in need of grace, with a nature that because of Adam's transgression, inclines towards evil more readily than towards good.

Thank you for your reply but what angels? Children's angels seeing the face of God? What does this mean and why does Jesus say that? How to understand that best?

Hey, Jeshu. Simply that God has a special love for children, that angels specifically watch over children and act as their advocates and witnesses before God; this verse being tied to not harming or causing scandal to children.

Hey, Jeshu. Simply that God has a special love for children, that angels specifically watch over children and act as their advocates and witnesses before God; this verse being tied to not harming or causing scandal to children.

Yes i understand that as well. God loves children more over against adults because there angels are still constantly before His face, while adults have often traded their godly attributes for sinful ways and their angels mourn.

Children have an innocence, purity, honesty, directness and vulnerability that i find back in God's Being/Attributes as well. And as a parent myself i have enjoyed those godly attributes very much from my own children and grand children and mourn them when i saw them getting lost as they were growing older sinning and being sinned against.

Hence my understanding of original sin has changed somewhat, not that i deny it, for i know each one of us will end up sinning, but rather pointing out that Godly attributes are given to us as His rightful offspring by God the Father, but sinful offences committed against these attributes in us as children, e.g. our innocence, (sexual)purity, openness, honesty, joyfulness, trusting, faith in God's good, we lost because of the sin committed by us and against us.

So even though at birth our lives were holy and good, as all life is a gift of God, we sinners at heart polluted it and stuffed it up sinning. This is why God holds us accountable for the sins we commit against our own lives as well as that of others, as we can see an example of in this chapter.

It is also interesting that for many of those who find Jesus back in their lives their godly attributes come back to life as well and their angels again enjoy Father's face. The faith, love, honesty, openness, integrity, innocence and joyfulness that again flourishes in believers hearts. Child like to be.

Just some thoughts that have been going through my mind of late.
