The Bible says that in the end times, 1/3 of the world will be burnt up.

How do ya suppose that might happen?

And do people really think they're going to just wake up one day and find it happened overnight?

It is possible that the bishop is correct, but we do not know that for certain yet.
Well as far as statistics, we do not know. What we do know that we have purposely killed 60 million lives. So what do we do?

The jury's back out on climate change/global warming for me. Pretending for a second that it isn't, climate change isn't murder. Let alone murder of the most defenseless beings imaginable.

It’s unclear if any deaths in U.S. have resulted from ‘climate change.’ Abortion, however, has taken the lives of over 60 million since 1973.

US bishop says ‘climate change’ more deadly than abortion: threatens ‘very future of humanity’
I misread this as 'US bishops' as in the plural. Yes, there are two or three or four bishops in the US that might say that. And the McElroy would be one of them. One that can be safely ignored but for the damage he does to faithful souls.

Well, abortion is murder, plain and simple; we all know this. Climate change, OTOH, is a theory, one which is not definitively proven by any scientific means, despite the vociferous and often fanatical declarations of the media and some sectors of the scientific community. Many of the latest trends (which have gotten very little media coverage, of course) indicate that we're actually entering the leading edge of a cooling trend; and in fact, there hasn't been any radical "warming" for a decade now---it's been static.

But, if the good bishop believes that climate change is a danger, good for him. For myself, I recall that 1500 years ago, the Vikings were growing wheat in southern Greenland, and there certainly weren't any man-made "greenhouse gases" causing it back then. You can't, by the way, grow wheat in Greenland at the current time, no matter how warm it might be.

So I tend to be of the opinion that "global warming", if it's happening at all---and that's a big "if", is not caused by human activity, but rather by natural cycles; and even if it is happening, there's not a great heckuva lot we can do about it. But I am not worried. This is still God's world, and He's still in charge of it, not me and not you. He will do as He sees best, and that's fine with me. Our primary concern should be getting to the next world anyway, not what happens in this one.

When the first new crop of Greenland wheat comes in, let me know....I'll be concerned at that point. ;)

Climate change is the new religion of the secular state that's being thrust on the world's stage. They use people like Greta for their new Saints. Even though Greta's an empty vessel that could literally be used for any cause her masters desired.
