EXCELLENT in the ONE and ONLY Spartacus; he and much of the cast performed spectacularly. REAL acting like that has gone extinct, IMO. They couldn't afford to pay someone to act like that today; if they could find one. We saw it first as kids when it first came out at a drive in theater from the folded down back of a Ford station wagon; us four kids in the back and Mom and Dad up front.

I have heard of the chap, but have never seen any of his films.
He was most famous for Spartacus. That came out in 1960 right after Ben Hur (1959). The screen was very big. They spent a lot of money on those films & they were a real spectacle. They use to say that he was as big as the big screen. He fit the part and he fit the screen.
