As for Canadians, how much taxes does the government take out of one's pay for your health coverage? I'm sure that it would be less than the average American pays for their insurance premiums for equal coverage.
My understanding is yes, it is less and Canadians pay less taxes than USers, so you do the math. The biggest change was not to health care, but ridding ourselves of insurers..

People don't like change, and that drives the health care debate in the US but I'm sure if the change came and people experienced socialized medicine which is truly designed to bring good quality health care to all, then, they would fight to keep it.

A "humanitarian" is a humanist putting belief into action.
That is completely untrue. A humanist rejects God entirely, which cannot always be said for the humanitarian. Calling a humanitarian a humanist in nature, is very unfair and contradictory. Just look at the American Humanist Association's main website and see how they label themselves. "Good without a God" as well as toting around a slogan such as "advocating progressive values and equality for humanists, atheists, and freethinkers". Any "Christian" supporting this ideology is beyond me.

The AHA does not represent all humanists not even just American humanists. I, as a Christian, totally support that slogan and I believe there are a great many more like me.

Yes, there are several different meanings for the word Humanist, but 'tryphena rose' is correct that the definition she gave is the one most often used.

If you want to make your case about ethics without doctrine or something like that, this probably isn't the word to use IF you don't mean what the AHA means by it.

Jesus had said "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand" Matthew 3:25.

How can you support a slogan that is so anti-God, yet call yourself a follower of God?

a slogan such as "advocating progressive values and equality for humanists, atheists, and freethinkers".

This slogan is not anti-God at all and "good without God" is not anti-God either it is simply acknowledges the simple fact that people can be good even if they don't acknowledge God. I have met many and I daresay so have you.

Health care in Canada is way too slow. People over there wish they have privatize health care.

That is a rather poor attempt at a joke. It verges on outright dishonesty. Canadians would go to war to protect their medicare. In fact we are putting pressure on the politicians to introduce pharmacare. As for timely care, I have no complaint at all.

From BBC

  • Canada spends 10.7% of its GDP on healthcare, while the United States spends 17.1%
  • 42% of Canadians think the current system works well, compared with just 25% of Americans
  • 50% of Canadians say some fundamental changes are needed. In the US, it's 48%
  • Only 8% of Canadians say its system needs to be completely rebuilt, compared to 27% of Americans
Your unsupported assertion suggests that Canadians are unhappy with their health care. Well, there is some discontent. But the big picture data we see above suggest Canadian are happier than Americans.
