Ugh.

I'm a Prostestant. I believe Ephesians 2:8-9 as much as any faithful Protestant. Unfortunately, many of my fellow Protestants use a definition of "religion" that only they buy into, and attempt to separate themselves from it. It doesn't do anyone any good.

Worse though, this person refers to himself as "Prophet" by title. More often than not, it doesn't speak to spiritual giftedness, but an egregious lack of humility.

He doesn't appear to be charging directly for the books, but hucksters will often require gifts or other contributions in order to get "free" books. If you get anything like that when attempting to obtain a book, watch out.

This isn't to say that the video is 100% wrong, but false teachers often use true teachings as a Trojan horse.

Yes he doesn't sell the books - he posts out the books to other churches. He got his congregation to help fund that. BTW his congregation only has about 15-20 people.

This guy runs the church my sisters go to.

From one of his books:

Books

Do you know religious people are going to hell? Do you know religion is a sin? Throughout many churches today the true power of Christian life and ministry, the power of the Holy Spirit is being left out. As a result, these churches and the people who receive from them, demonstrate a form of Christianity without the true substance. Such is religion!

In the pages of this book, the Holy Spirit will reveal to you the bondage of religion and how it is taking multitudes of people to hell and how you can be set free from religious power.
Maybe it is a bit like the Pharisees...

Here are some excerpts of his sermon about hell:

Is there some truth to his controversial message?

It sounds like pretty standard "religion is bad" rhetoric that one hears in some Christian circles out of a general ignorance about what the word "religion" means, and an animosity toward Christians outside of their little circle.

It's only worth taking seriously insofar as it needs to be rebuked and corrected.

The video comes across as mental justification for believing that God has to torture people for eternity. That happens when one's view of God has been so severely warped that they no longer look to God through Christ, the cross, and the Gospel and instead try and understand God through their reason and by looking only at the Hidden God.

To speak of God's "glory" and how it is the only fitting thing for Him to do is to squish us all like little cockroaches is to simply ignore the reality that God was crucified.

I think the "prophet" preaching is trying to put a spin on eternal torment that allows him to praise God. Assuming the lake of fire is just, he is saying that it means that the glory people are rejecting must be incredible.

"God doesn't want anyone to perish or die. Peter likely refers to eternal death following God's judgment on the day of the Lord. The overall message of Scripture is that God does not desire anyone's damnation. That is, He would prefer that all would be saved. "

What does 2 Peter 3:9 mean?

I am not convinced the glory people are rejecting is the issue. Love, as in John 3:16 is.

We should question all who call themselves Prophet or Christian (or any other faith for that matter). We shall know them by their fruit. The foundress of school I work at currently has a quote "Action not words".

Yes, anybody can still end up in hell. Even someone who was once the Pope or considered a saint (little s on purpose) by some.
