Hmm, my parents generation often lived off their own gardens. Now, it's hard just to keep your pet cactus alive? I think we are devolving. Please note my tongue firmly planted in cheek. I am not a good plant parent, but I have eaten stuff I've grown. I'm especially good at growing weeds.

There is so much hate wrapped up and expressed in it, all should have a chance to see.
There is no hate wrapped in it or otherwise in it. It's simply the truth. If you want to disprove it, then feel free, but simply stating "there is hate wrapped up and expressed in it" doesn't make it so. Everyone can see that you're 100% wrong.

Most millennials are intimidated by plants, survey finds

Seven in 10 millennials consider themselves “plant parents,” according to new research.

While millennial demand for houseplants is high, a poll of 2,000 millennials (aged 25–39) revealed that 67 percent say taking care of plants is more of a challenge than they bargained for.

The study, conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with Article, examined the attitudes and behaviors of millennials toward plants and uncovered that 22 percent are apprehensive about owning a plant because they’ve accidentally killed one in the past.

“Plants are an easy way to add color and life to any space," said Zoe Garred, director of product development at Article. "The survey revealed millennials’ desire to incorporate plants into their home despite the apprehension and challenges associated with plant care.”

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

OK after reading the article I've got it
and I guess it makes sense?
First see if I can keep a plant alive?
If so possibly move up and get a pet?
If the pet stays healthy?
Maybe have a child someday?

This is a interesting group.

great article. i think taking care of plants is a pastime and most millennials don't need pastimes. it's an older folks' enjoyment.

They are too busy on their phones and computers than to have pastimes.

In my hippie days ( that was when I was young) we kept house plants. We liked the green stuff.

Well, maybe we should share with you that some of us are related to these millennials and actually we are concerned for their futures and the Country that they will soon be running.
The ones I'm talking about aren't concerned for their futures but rather only concerned about putting a group of people down based on their age because they (the old ones) are miserable and have no other way to feel good about themselves.

Do they got what it takes?
Absolutely. The fact that you even ask indicates where you fall in all of this.

Hopefully?
No, definitely. Again, your asking "Hopefully?" is just more proof of where you are in all of this.

How much does it really matter
to us getting older day by day ones?
Enough for you to prejudicially make negative comment after negative comment about people based solely on their age.

Not that much because,
we have been told to be anxious for nothing
and when their time comes to be in charge
we will be in heaven.
Actually, THAT much because you are still trying to defend your negativity and bias against a group of people based solely on their age.

Thank God
for concerning this issue
His timing (for us) looks to be PERFECT.

M-Bob
"(for us)"? I believe all of God's timing is PERFECT. Sad that you believe it's perfect "for us" and not everyone. I worship the True God who is omnipotent and I have Faith that He is. It's sad to see someone who believes his god is imperfect. Maybe that's why your church hides itself from outsiders?

And where did that come from?
Relax
Actually our pastor is kind of in the millennial age group.
Remember that millennial song?
"Relax be happy now"

Enjoy your youth -- gone before you know it.

Old people who make fun of millennials based on blanket generalizations are doing so because they're scared stiff of the millennials.

It's true. Some OFs don't spend much time with younger people and really have no idea what they are like. But even millennials make fun of millennials, sometimes:

And they should be - these are the weakest and most ignorant of the old people who do this.

They live sheltered lives, most of them like that. Not all of them. Being a crabby old boomer myself, I know it can happen, and I try to avoid that kind of ignorance. When I told my boss, several years ago, that I was planning to retire, he was genuinely surprised to find out how old I was. Not that I look younger; I just kept learning.

My youngest daughter is a millennial. She got her degree in actuarial science and does something for a large media company, involving analysis and coding. Most of my kids do jobs that didn't exist a couple of decades ago.

It's a different world. They adapted to it, just as we adapted to ours.

I truly don't think the Boomers understand how much the Millennials revile them.

I also don't think they understand that we'll be making their healthcare decisions pretty soon.

I don't have to go any farther than your first two words.

"Old people..."

If you had wanted to craft your diatribe in a manner which did not convey disdain and contempt you could have used a term such as, say, "the elderly." But no, that would have implied compassion.

Why are old people so nervous about being referred to as old people?

Be nervous for nothing
that's not right I forgot (old memory)
be anxious for nothing.

Well, every generation eventually takes charge of things. The difference is...

69% of Millennials Support Medicare for All
VERY Nice: 69% of Millennials Support Medicare For All

Can't blame them, given the way the current regime in Washington has messed up things.

Just curious who will be paying for that?

I thought that many (as read here on site) are already complaining about the national debt?

Your not going to take our (old peoples) hard earned retirement monies away from us are you?

Same people who are paying for it now. There just won't be a third party skimming their share off the top. Why do you think people pay less and get better healthcare in single-payer systems?

I thought that many (as read here on site) are already complaining about the national debt?

Yep. Instead of paying your money to a health insurance company, you'd pay somewhat less than that in taxes.

Your not going to take our (old peoples) hard earned retirement monies away from us are you?

You're thinking of Trump. He said, when he was running for president that he'd not touch social security.
"Hillary Clinton is going to destroy your Social Security and Medicare. ... I am going to protect and save your Social Security and your Medicare."
Donald Trump, 2016

But lately...

The word came at the very end of an interview conducted by Joe Kernen of CNBC, in connection with Trump’s appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Here’s how it unfolded, according to the tape and transcript from CNBC:

“KERNEN: Entitlements ever be on your plate?

“PRESIDENT TRUMP: At some point they will be. We have tremendous growth. We’re going to have tremendous growth. This next year I — it’ll be toward the end of the year. The growth is going to be incredible. And at the right time, we will take a look at that. You know, that’s actually the easiest of all things, if you look, cause it’s such a—"
Column: Trump opens door to Social Security cuts

Yes, he lied to you about that, too.

The billion-dollar tax cut he gave himself and his buddies has to be paid for somehow. You're the one who's going to have to pay for it, he thinks.

Heh, whatever you say.

Actually, it's what they say. They seem to be pretty decent people for the most part.

I also don't think they understand that we'll be making their healthcare decisions pretty soon.

I gave this a lot of consideration and then consulted six different teams of experts. And we all agree, those statements have absolutely, positively nothing to do with this thread.

If so, it was probably a bad idea for you to bring up healthcare, then. If you didn't want to hear about it, probably best not to talk about it.

Can't blame them, given the way the current regime in Washington has messed up things.

President Trump won the election.

Yep. Like a lot of would-be autocrats, he's better at getting power than using it. The sooner you make peace with that, the happier you're likely to be.
