Sure.

"If a person sins while on his way toward God...this is being sorry for that sin and asking forgiveness."

I'm waiting for the "then...what" that depends on the "if".
I'm explaining the difference between REPENT and being sorry for one's sins.
Many do not understand the difference and use the word REPENT incorrectly.

As to the IF...
IF a person sins and is sorry for that sin and asks forgives, God will forgive that person.
1 John 1:9

IF you hear and obey His voice that results in following Him, you will receive eternal life.

That happens after Salvation, too, it is just less likely to be 180°; the offending deviation can be more subtle.
How could it happen after salvation?
If you're saved, you're saved.
You've repented, you've decided for God.
You've been justified and declared innocent.

After salvation comes sinning, for which we ask forgiveness.
You don't need to REPENT every time you sin. You need to feel sorry that you've sinned.

Why are you slapping your forehead??

For all of those times we try to take matters into our own hands --I got this-- and get ahead of God. All sin, even after Salvation, is departing from God's will for us. The only difference after Salvation (in that regard) is that the Holy Spirit is there to remind us Whose we are!

"Hey! Where are you going...?"

I agree 100%.
But have YOU understood what REPENT means?
What does it mean?

And the "ransom rules" in your signature line:
are you referring to the ransom theory of atonement?
If so, who is being paid the ransom....God or the enemy?
Just your opinion....

It means "to turn back." Our walk begins with a BIG "turn back" and is maintained by little "turns back," as is necessary.

Names have meanings. In English, we translate words, but transliterate names. If Jesus' name would have been translated (instead of transliterated), He would be known in English as Ransom.

"..., and you shall call His name [Ransom], for He will [ransom] His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

OK. It does mean TO TURN BACK.
But our walk is not maintained by LITTLE TURN BACKS.....
This would mean that you turn away from God
to satan
Away from satan
back to God
away from God
to satan

and on and on....

What you call LITTLE TURN BACKS are failings on our part, sinning, but we're still walking TOWARD GOD. We just get up and keep going.

I just think this is really important to understand and explain it this way to anyone that might ask. It makes our walk with God much easier to understand.

I've never heard this.
I've always known that Jesus means Savior or Salvation.
I looked in a Greek lexicon and it confirms the meaning of Savior.
Are you sure??

Check out these verses about salvation and eternal life.

Salvation:

Mark 16:16 " He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Luke 8:12 "Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.

Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

Acts 11:14 and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.'

Acts 16:31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 10:9, 10 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

1 Cor 1:21 - For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

2 Tim 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

2 Thess 2:13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

Eternal Life:

John 3:15-16 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey (disobeys) the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

John 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

1 Tim 1:16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Now, go back and count the verses that say that either salvation or eternal life is based on obedience.

The Hebrew root of Jesus is <יָשַׁע>.
Ransom means "redeemer/to redeem."
This makes sense.
A redeemer is one who buys back...and thus ransom.
I just thought of Ruth and the Kinsman redeemer...

Thanks for the info.

Here’s one just for you, and guess what, all the verse in the Bible about salvation are the same.

You just haven’t figured that out yet, you think that one verse teaches one thing and another verse teaches a different truth about salvation.

You just post verses that seem to fit your doctrine.

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Hebrews 5:9

  • He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him

You can ignore this truth and try to present other scriptures that you think somehow, make this scripture null and void.

You can twist and contort all the scriptures you want.

You can call me names.

You can say I’m deceived.

NONE OF THOSE THINGS WILL CHANGE THE TRUTH.

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4

And He rewards those who obey Him.

Eternal life is the reward for overcoming.

He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:7-8

Christians who are liars will have their part in the lake of fire.

eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; Romans 2:7
