There are only two types of Spirits.
Those who have died,and unclean Spirits of darkness.
Paul speaking about Christians said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
For non Chirstians their Spirits are bound in hell.
The Spirits of darkness are servants of Satan.
I would recommend that you listen to Derick Prince on YouTube.
These sermons are older but still true as to how he clarifies the reasons for not taking part with the works of darkness.

By being fascinated by the paranormal you are paying yourself open to the devil.
Ask yourself, what is there to learn about Jesus in these programmes about ghosts and hauntings etc?
If there is nothing to learn, stop watching them.

Here's what God said about those types of practices in Deuteronomy 18:10-13. (He spoke this to the Israelites when they were to enter the promised land He'd given them):

• Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

He also said in Isaiah 8:19

• When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

Steer clear of all of your paranormal involvement and fascination. Do not engage in or entertain it at all. You are opening yourself up to a demonic world that you, as a believer in Jesus Christ, have no business being involved in, even if it's as an outsider looking in. It's not wise.

I watched those shows in the past. But my paranormal experience changed that. It isn’t entertainment and many of the methods they suggest exacerbate the problem. Only God can clear that up. And the majority of those programs are referencing man’s solutions.

Watching the program won’t automatically lead to vexation. That requires sin or God’s permission. But it could foster curiosity which might compel you to go to haunted houses or events where paranormal is a focus.

And that may open door for demonic harassment. I’d leave it alone.

Personally I don't watch them because they tend to higten my consciousness to fear. It also causes me to have bad dreams. Whereas if I fill my mind with things above (where Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God), I find joy and peace.

I also watch paranormal/horror movies and documentaries. However, let me warn you to get your theology, anthropology, angelology, and demonology from the Bible and not from the wild imaginations of playwrights. If you are solid in your belief of the Bible and its doctrines, then some paranormal entertainment won't affect you (at least very much). However, if you are inclined to believe what you see on the screen, then I think it is possible to attract demonic deception and oppression.

While I think common sense will tell any Christian to avoid that type of thing, I’m not sure watching a show will do more than tempt you to go a bit deeper into that area. Which is not good.

i'm glad you never tried to make contact with spirits. you are wise. i don't know about watching shows about it tho. i think the Bible warns us against trying to contact spirits b/c the only ones you'll get are demons. i got a oiuja board at 14 and i believe it opened up a can of worms that haunted me for the rest of my life. i'm old and gray now so that's a long time.

Don't you'll get voices or other things its a bad route to go down
