Obama feels Sanders is unfit to battle Trump – and he has told people he might say so publicly

Former President Barack Obama has remained mostly silent through the early stages of the Democratic race to unseat Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election but that may soon change, friends and associates tell FOX Business, as avowed socialist Bernie Sanders gains in national polls and seems poised to obtain front-runner status.

Obama has told people in private that Sanders is both temperamentally and politically unfit to beat Trump in the 2020 general election, these people say. Among his concerns are Sanders’ strident form of politics and confrontational manners where he was known not to seek compromise during his long years in the US senate. Meanwhile, Obama is said to worry that Sanders’ far-left policies, which include massive tax increases, free college tuition and massive student debt forgiveness, would alienate even traditional Democratic voters. And may alienate them enough to re-elect Trump, who is seeking a second term despite historically low favorability ratings given his own bombastic style, these people tell FOX Business.

Seems Obama may not be in love with Bernie's politics? And so far has not endorsed Biden.

Also explained in video that it looks like yet another Trump win in 2020.

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton threw her first real punches of the 2020 primary.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that in a soon-to-be-released documentary, Clinton trashes her rival in the 2016 Democratic primary, Sen. Bernie Sanders, saying, “Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, and he got nothing done. He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.” In an interview about the program, Clinton confirmed that she still feels this way and declined to say whether she would endorse Sanders were he to be the nominee.

Clinton isn’t the only high-profile Democrat to air concerns about Sanders — according to reports from Barack Obama’s inner circle, the former president said that he would try to stop Sanders if he were poised to clinch the nomination.

Former President Barack Obama, who has so far taken a neutral position publicly on the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, privately indicated he would speak up to stop Bernie Sanders from becoming the party’s nominee should the Vermont senator make significant gains, Politico reported Tuesday.

Politico’s Ryan Lizza, who spoke to several of Obama’s advisers, wrote that the former president sees his role in the Democratic primary process as “providing guardrails” to make sure it doesn’t get “too ugly” and “to unite the party when the nominee is clear.”

No, not unfit, but he is too far left for Obama. That is what the article says. Unfit implies something besides policy differences.

Even assuming the source is reliable... Obama ran as a centrist to unite the country, and the country became more divided than ever. It was easy for the Right to twist and frame his words and presentation. It will be harder to do that with Sanders, since Sanders deals with more than glittering generalities and platitudes.

I can't wait for the conservatives to flip back to the "poor bernie, he was the only good candidate, so you democrat voters might as well stay at home" script as soon as he's out.

I just need AOC to fill in my "far right scapegoats" bingo card. Can this thread do it?

Sure might just do it for you.

Question
Of all the politicians that we know, which one would makes changes for the worse more than we have ever seen before?

Your answer?

What a shock... another pro-Trump thread that conveniently omitted some inconvenient facts of the article because it didn't fit in the intended narrative or perhaps the OP didn't read the entire article.

Hey look, a sound argument to primary the sitting president.

But unfortunately that gets me no closer to filling up my bingo card.

I don't believe many have ever said Bernie was ever a good candidate but I have heard many say he at least has always been consistent on what he says. Some have heard Bernie supporters saying if he gets denied the leadership of the party due to unfairness they'll switch over and vote for Trump. I can understand Trump does have a certain appeal for he does represent a rising up against the establishment and works hard to create middle income level jobs.

And why with the lowest unemployment level in 50 years?

To his credit, he hasn’t tanked that upward trend that he inherited. And I’ll concde that claiming that the changes would be “worse more than we have ever seen before” is more than a little hyperbolic for most any politician these days given some of the atrocities in our past.

But as for broad actions on his part that are obviously harmful:

Trade wars that threaten and harm our economy (or at least segments of it).

Environmental policies that quite literally endanger human health and safety.

Foreign policy that leaves us left safe and with weakened alliances.

Openly stoking the flames of bigotry, hatred, resentment, and divisive politics, accelerating the pace of all of the worst trends in our public discourse.

Shameless corruption and grifting, nepotism, incompetence, and acceptance of similar behavior from cabinet officials and other subordinates weakens our institutions and processes of government.

The Dems better be careful. If they start trashing Bernie and he loses the nomination, they may face another 2016 when some of his supporters stayed home and cost the Hillary the election.

Maybe then they will switch to Trump?
