Fascinating book. From giants, nephilim, demons, and watchers — all the way to messengers, fallen ones, and the mysteries behind the world. The Book Of Enoch tells us what no other book tells us. It explains statements in the bible like..

Genesis 6:4
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Daniel 4:17
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day....
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

So by church decree, many believers won't read the book.

May provide the REASON for the flood of Noah, which was essentially an "Ethnic Cleansing". IF the "Sons of God" who cohabited with the "Daughters of men", WERE non humans, then there would have been NON-Adamic people living and breeding, which would mean that an ADAMIC Savior would be unable to atone for them. The FLOOD, then was necessary to RESTORE the purity of the human race, so that Jesus' ministry could be effective.

I'll ask about that - later.

I think so. I believe that it also gives the explanation for "dinosaurs". Kind of like The Book of Giants does :

I've always (since my Southern Baptist days back in the early '60s) been a "Gap Theory" adherant, which opens the door for any number of "Creations" on this dirt ball, the LAST of which would be the Adamic creation that we're still involved in.

Of course I'll ask about that too - MAYBE even be able to watch it all in person -

Oct 08, 2018 · I am leery to read anything apart from the Bible, because I don't want to be lead astray. But where do these books come from if not divinely inspired? I have read and studied about Bible Canon. But those books that were not included in the Bible, I am just curious if they are worth reading and for what purpose.

Since A.D. 397 the Christian church has considered the canon of the Bible to be complete; if it is complete, then it must be closed. Therefore, we cannot expect any more books to be discovered or written that would open the canon again and add to its sixty-six books.

These are just samples of the reasons why reading outside canon is frowned upon.

11 copies of of the book of Enoch were found at Qumran. 15 copies of The Book of Jubilees were found at Qumran. These were some of the most plentiful books found at Qumran. In my studies, I have found strong evidence to support that it was the Zadokites who inhabited Qumran. There is also evidence to support that John the Baptist was there, as well as Paul.

Now, the question which comes to my mind is: Who has the authority to define the Canon?

The Church. That's how the Ethiopians and Eritreans ended up with the Book of Enoch in their canon when nobody else has it, why it took the Syriacs some centuries after the establishment of the Pešitta to include Revelation and several other books in their NT canon, why the Georgians have some unique material in their canon that is not shared with the other Eastern Orthodox, how the Roman Catholic Church essentially closed its Biblical canon at Trent, etc.

You'll have to excuse me; but I find your answer to be ambiguous. I'm not sure who you mean by "The Church." While I'm waiting for clarification; I might add, that to my understanding, there was no Canon in the time of Yashua. I will also add that in the time of Yahshua, as today, some, through the Ruach, were given the gift of discernment.

In the Brit Chadashah, there are quotes attributed to scripture which can be found nowhere in the "Canon" of the Torah; however they can be found in the Book of Jubilees. Considering that Jubilees was often found in the same jars with Genesis at Qumran; and that Jubilees was one of the most prevalent books found at Qumran; I suspect that Jubilees is scripture.

Clearly Jude is quoting the First Book of Hanokh as scripture.

The Complete Jewish Bible
Jude 1

14 Moreover, Hanokh, in the seventh generation starting with Adam, also prophesied about these men, saying, “Look! Adonai came with his myriads of holy ones 15 to execute judgment against everyone, that is, to convict all the godless for their godless deeds which they have done in such a godless way, and for all the harsh words these godless sinners have spoken against him.”

BOOK OF ENOCH
I-XXXVI
I-V. Parable of Enoch on the Future Lot of the Wicked and the Righteous
CHAPTER I.

9. And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of ⌈His⌉ holy ones
To execute judgement upon all,
And to destroy ⌈all⌉ the ungodly:

And to convict all flesh
Of all the works ⌈of their ungodliness⌉ which they have ungodly committed,
And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners ⌈have spoken⌉ against Him.

They Think its heretical, but when it's treated as commentary in addition to genesis 6:4, gives great answers to a lot of questions. Rob Skiba does a pretty good job of this.
