It wasn't only Democrats who had issues with the timeline.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, "raised concerns" about the resolution and played a role in the changes, her spokeswoman said.
"Collins and others raised concerns about the 24 hours of opening statements in two days, and the admission of the House transcript is the record," Collins spokeswoman Annie Clark said in a statement. "Her position has been that the trial should follow the Clinton model as much as possible. She thinks these changes are a significant improvement." There is no attempted cover-up. There were no crimes committed. No impeachable offenses were committed. No Russian collusion ever took place. Time to come out of the corner and recognize the truth.
McConnell has already admitted coordinating it with the WH. No point in denial. It wasn't until moderate members of his own party began to peel away that he gave in on when the trial would be held.
It still remains to be seen if he'll try to hide witnesses or evidence.
