So you're saying that the scripture is inadequate here ?

You feel that you have the freedom to insert wording to specify type of sin ... into God's word ?

IOW ... you claim God didn't adequately specify the type of sin here, ... but this is what He meant ???

There is no mention of repentance. Do you think willful sins like murder are automatically covered by our Advocate? If yes, then you you'd be wrong.

So willful sins are unpardonable? No Advocate,no forgiveness? Even after a person would truly repent?
And where is this scripture that says there is no repentance required?

Willful sins require repentance, so Jesus is not automatically our Advocate for willful sins without repentance. Do you agree, or not?

Can you repent of a sin you are not aware of?

What you're missing in your teaching is that Jesus here is referring the BASIS of your salvation (i.e. what you BUILD upon) ....

The basis of salvation is FAITH, ... not WORKS.

Surely you would agree that basing our salvation upon Christ, the ROCK, ... is wiser than attempting to base our salvation upon the shifting sand of our ability to keep God's word, wouldn't you ?

We are justified by faith friend. Justified means to be made right with God, but God does have expectations of His children. In this example Jesus is referring to those who claim to believe but are workers of inequity. They are false prophets who indulged in sin.

“"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell-and great was its fall."”

All sin is atoned for by the sacrifice of Christ. That's why He died.

He died for the thief who was crucified beside Him. That thief asked Him to remember him ... when Jesus came into His kingdom.

Jesus said ... "Surely you shall be with Me ... in paradise."

No repentance is mentioned in this interchange. Did Jesus forgive the thief because He asked to be with Him ?

What makes you think the thief wasn't already one of His followers? How long ago did he steal? It could have been long ago, and just recently imprisoned. How did he know about Christ's Kingdom? How did he know that even though Jesus was dying that Jesus could still take him to His kingdom. And the assumption some make that he wasn't baptized is a stretch also with as much faith as this man had.

What does everyone think about what Galatians 3:3 has to say on the subject?
I've cited it previously in the thread.

It seems to say to me ... that works performed in our flesh (i.e. obedience) ... play no part in our salvation ...

Exactly!

2 Peter 2:
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

Per your standard ... none of this was mentioned ...

P.S. Was the Roman soldier at the foot of the cross a secret follower, as well ???

That is true, except they were actually quenching the Spirit to go back to the outward signs of the law (days, circumcision of the flesh, etc.)

Jesus said that He NEVER knew them. They were NEVER saved ...
Then by what power did they cast out demons? You believe salvation is at the beginning, rather than at the end.
They only CLAIMED to cast out demons.

Jesus said that He NEVER knew them. If what Jesus said is true, then by what power did they cast out demons ?

Salvation is the beginning of a new life. It is a birth. We are a NEW creation.

How do we unbirth ourselves ?

What the thief said to him was. Would an unsaved person who had never heard Jesus come up with such truth?
I've no doubt that the thief had heard of Jesus. And he certainly witnessed Jesus upon the cross. At what point do the scriptures say that he repented ?

There were centurions that believed in Jesus, and Jesus healed their servant.
Is it your claim that the soldier at the foot of the cross was the centurion whose servant was healed ?

You seem to want to insert a lot into scripture ... that isn't explicitly there ...

Just as the Corinthians came short in no gift 1 Cor. 1, but were still carnal, they were quenching the Spirit and not saved. Do you honestly believe you will be saved while still committing willful sins as some teach? Are you one of those too?
