Orthodox Christian Network and Ancient Faith Radio have podcast series on the scriptures. Maybe another way of reading them may help.
Hi @Donna Fletcher; good and important to pursue a regular prayer and Bible reading habit, right? to see the Saviour in His glory and saving power.

I’ve been in a real slump. I know I need to get back into God’s word I’m struggling finding inspiration even after praying for it. I read the Bible of course in Church but a I can’t seem to find the motivation to pick it up while I’m at home. Anyone have similar problems and if so what have you done to get out of it? TIA

Look upon reading your Bible as a treat, the best part of your day. You will not find such wisdom nor inspiration anywhere else. Before reading, pray for understanding. Then feel the words springing to life in your heart and lighting you up. Nothing and nobody in this life can compare. These are inspired writings from men of God. God is speaking directly to each and every soul through the Bible. It took blood sweat and tears to put the Bible together. How lucky we are to have it freely available! In many countries Christians are prevented from owning a Bible, Christians are oppressed and murdered.
I have 4 Bibles in my Kindle, New Testament in my handbag and several Bibles in different rooms of my home - some i picked up virtually free from charity shops. Discarded by those who think they have better things to do.
I read whenever i have time through even the busiest days. Even 5 minutes is enough to read a psalm. I have many parts on the go and mark tiny pencil ticks to remember my place. Because the more you read it, the more addictive it becomes.

No work of literature compares- though i love English Literature and read other books too.
So re-set your mind and feel the privilege that you have eyes to read and freedom to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

this may be redundant already, but I use the you version bible app. It helps to start a yearly through the bible plan at the beginning of the year, as the dates are right. However last year I started 18 days late, and so during the year, you just have to read those 18 days , so you make sure you are 18 days ahead of schedule then you will be fine. I read nicky gumbel through the bible, he is a great devotional writer. If I don't have time, I just skip the devotion.

nicky gumbel devotion

but it takes fifteen to twenty minutes a day. If you miss a few days, you just read a half hour on weekends. make sure you don't get too far behind. But it's a good system it reads one psalm, one proverb, one old testament, and one newtestament. Also you can find others you know on there, by inviting them through messenger or email to do a plan with you. One guy at work, I send devotionals to all the time. We did a christmas one and a christian investors one.

That is a good plan. I have Nicky Gumbels daily devotionals too and they are very good. I also have his Bible in one year programme.
Brilliant you are spreading the good news in the workplace, so good.

Yeah me and my daughter are doing nicky gumbel through the Bible, she gets behind sometimes, but she is still a teen ager. I can comment on daily devotions and talk to her like a social media, it's fun. Are you saying you have a separate devotion from nicky, other than the through the bible one?

Just the official daily devotionals you sugn up for as you do the bible in a year, on the HTB site.

I think it is fantastic you and your daughter discuss the Bible together. So good for her and you. Fantastic basis for a good life. The best.

since we follow each other she can see all the verse images I make, and i can see all the verses she highlights at her various bible studies. I guess teen agers don't use bibles any more they are using the you version app.

You know what, it matters nott. Whatever medium. The fact is they ARE reading the precious Word of God. Best wishes to you and your family for doing what is the most valuable thing possible.

yes I agree. They will usually have their phone and a notebook, while I have my Bible with wide margins and I can take notes and stuff in it. But you are correct, any medium is better than no medium.
