From "The New York Times", files: Feds Investigating Comey Over Leak Tied To Hillary Investigation, Report Says

Federal law enforcement officials are reportedly investigating whether disgraced former FBI Director James Comey illegally leaked classified information about a Russian intelligence document to reporters.
...
"By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees—and the many thousands more former FBI employees—who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information,” The inspector general wrote. “In a country built on the rule of law, it is of utmost importance that all FBI employees adhere to Department and FBI policies, particularly when confronted by what appear to be extraordinary circumstances or compelling personal convictions. Comey had several other lawful options available to him to advocate for the appointment of a Special Counsel, which he told us was his goal in making the disclosure. What was not permitted was the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive investigative information, obtained during the course of FBI employment, in order to achieve a personally desired outcome.”

How is this ""The New York Times"" when your source, with all its provocative wording, is the DailyWire? I call rickrolling!

Original source: Justice Dept. Investigating Years-Old Leaks and Appears Focused on Comey
The New York Times article is behind a paywall. The OP references a secondary article quoting from and linking to original New York Times article.

All good now? If you have an issue with The New York Times being behind a paywall, I'd suggest you take it up with The New York Times.

What the IG said in the quote does not change whether it is published in the NYT or the Daily Mail and that's what should be taken as fact from both articles. The rest of both articles, imo, should be questioned and examined for propaganda and bias.

The New York Times article is behind a paywall.
There's only a paywall if you've used up your monthly allotment of 10 free articles - which is pretty generous.

The OP references a secondary article quoting from and linking to original New York Times article
Yes, I know. It adds a lot of gratuitous nastiness, so why not call it "from the DailyWire files" ?

All good now? If you have an issue with The New York Times being behind a paywall, I'd suggest you take it up with The New York Times.
Hey, I'm not the one who made the fuss about a paywall that isn't there unless you're on your eleventh article....that would be you. I'm good with the Times, but I don't like getting rickrolled.

Not sure why you think you're being rickrolled. You're perfectly free to read the New York Times article, apparently. Others may not be. I've fielded complaints about that before, too, and so I tend to avoid linking to the New York Times when I can. [NHE also hastens to note that when he can't read the article, he won't link to it. It presents a potential TOS issue.]

If the issue is really that you don't want exposure to points of view other than from your preferred publications, then all I can say is that threads in this forum will frequently have such viewpoints.

Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further.

Because you advertised the article as coming from "the New York Times files" when it was actually a DailyWire article. That is what rickrolling means.

No, the issue is what I've said repeated that it was. Trying to reframe it is disingenuos if not out and out dishonest. I've said what my issue was in no uncertain terms.

Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further.
Sure, your supposing my issue is something other than what I stated repeatedly is always so helpful.

Incorrect.

The subject article was from the New York Times. The Daily Wire was clear about that as well. Do you have any comments about the subject matter, the New York Times article?

So we listen to inspector generals now? Funny, because when an inspector general found a whistleblower had a credible case against the president to be taken to congress, you and many others here didn’t seem to have any interest in listening to him.

The "subject article"? The DailyWire is the one quoted from and linked to although it admitted that the NYT broke the story. The OP features that article and its slur.

From the actual NYT article, with emphasis added:

NYT said:
The case is the second time the Justice Department has investigated leaks potentially involving Mr. Comey, a frequent target of President Trump, who has repeatedly called him a “leaker.” Mr. Trump recently suggested without evidence that Mr. Comey should be prosecuted for “unlawful conduct” and spend years in prison.

NYT said:
The timing of the investigation could raise questions about whether it was motivated at least in part by politics. Prosecutors and F.B.I. agents typically investigate leaks of classified information around the time they appear in the news media, not years later. And the inquiry is the latest politically sensitive matter undertaken by the United States attorney’s office in Washington, which is also conducting an investigation of Mr. Comey’s former deputy, Andrew G. McCabe, that has been plagued by problems.

The Justice Department is not supposed to be a political retribution weapon.

Are you suggesting that politicians should be free from Justice Department scrutiny? That their obvious misdeeds should not be prosecuted?

Would you really want that?

Obvious misdeeds? Would that be like the obvious misdeeds of Hillary who the GOP investigated about a dozen times and found absolutely zero evidence of any crimes?

This current tactic of yours - to quote someone then ask if what they want or mean something blatantly contrary to what they've stated - is dishonest. It is a form of the forbidden "fixed your post" type argument.

In other news, the New York Bar association has asked Congress to investigate AG Barr for misuse of his office.

Barr Investigating Comey Again, Is Going After Trump’s Enemies One by One

theIntelligencer said:
“The soft spot, the least tyrant-proof part of the government, is the U.S. Department of Justice,” [Benjamin Wittes] argued, laying out how prosecutorial discretion could allow a president to harass his domestic enemies.

Yesterday’s news that the Department of Justice is exploring yet another probe of James Comey, the former FBI director turned Trump antagonist, would seem to confirm those fears have been borne out.

As the Times report notes, the investigation — the second the Department of Justice has brought against Comey — is highly unusual.

Because you broke forum rules by quoting a source without giving them credit -- your quote is from the Daily Wire but, while you do link to it, you imply that both the link and the quote are from the NY Times. This is dishonest and appears to be intended into deceiving people into thinking the quote is from the NY Times. If you aren't going to source the NY Times, because it is behind a paywall, at least give proper attribution to the Daily Wire but add the information is based off NY Times reporting.

What???

At this point in the discussion, there's no reason for anyone to feel even a little deceived. Not even a little. Whatever failings the OP may have had, the origins of the topic have been thoroughly discussed at this point. Now ... how about we get back on topic. Apparently, the topic is painful enough to some here that they'd prefer to change the topic and criticize the messenger.

So, back to the subject of the thread - the INVESTIGATION of disgraced former FBI Director James Comey.
