Sorry, I never thought about format. Here is the text for people to cut and past as required.

SUN, MOON (Rev 12:1) The sun, moon and 12 stars is the nation of Israel (Genesis 37:9) through whom the human ancestry of Christ is traced. (Romans 9:5)

THE WOMAN (Rev 12:1) The pregnant woman is the true Israel of God - those of faith within natural Israel (Rom 9:6-8) down through the generations (Galatians 3:7) until Mary who finally gave birth to Jesus.

MAN CHILD (Rev 12:5) The child of the woman was Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Messiah. (Isaiah 9:6)

RED DRAGON (Rev 12:3) The dragon with 7 heads and 10 horns, is Satan with his authority over the kingdoms of the world, and his power to give them to whomsoever he will. (Luke 4:5-6)

THIRD STARS (Rev 12:4, 7-12) A third of the stars, cast out of heaven, were Satan’s angels, defeated during the ministry of Christ. (Luke 10:18)

IRON SCEPTRE (Rev 12:5) Christ's rule over the nations with a rod of iron, represents God’s unyielding and all-powerful authority over his enemies. (Psalm 2:9)

1260 DAYS (Rev 12:6 13-14) An ancient calendar formula that occured in the last half of the 7-year cycle. Therefore, when used as a symbol, it represents a 'last days' span of time at the end of an era of God's dealing with man.

HER OFFSPRING (Rev 12:17) Satan turns his attention to the Church – those who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 5:8-9)

THE SEA (Rev 13:1, 17:1) The ‘Seas’ from which the beast emerges, and upon which the great harlot is seated, are the turbulent masses of mankind – peoples, multitudes, nations and languages. (Rev 17:15)

THE BEAST (Rev 13:1) The ‘Beast’ rising from the sea of nations is the aggregation of world power into empires – the end result of secular human government, independent of, and antagonistic to God.

7 HEADS (Rev 17:10) The ‘7 Heads’ are seven empires from history that persecuted the people of God - Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, and Islam. (cf. Dan 7:17)

8TH KING (Rev 17:8,11) The ‘8th King’ is the last manifestation of the beast, following a period when no world empire existed. The world will be astonished when it reappears.

10 HORNS (Rev 17:12-14) The ‘10 Horns’ are the geo-political regions that make up the last beast empire. Their number is a re-appearance of Daniel’s 10 horns (cf. Dan 7:24) which originally emerged during the breakup of Rome. Therefore, they refer to Europe and the Islamic domains.

THE EARTH (Rev 13:11) The ‘Earth’ from which the second beast emerges, is human wisdom from below – not what comes from above, but earthly, unspiritual, demonic. (James 3:15)

2nd BEAST (Rev 13:11) The ‘Beast’ rising from the earth, is religious power arising from human wisdom, and serving the secular power (1st beast) by deceiving people into worshiping it. (Rev 13:12-14)

IMAGE OF BEAST (Rev 13:15, 14:9,16:2, 20:4) The final beast will be an empire, but it will also be personified in the form of a man. (2 Thess. 2:4) Other scriptures call him 'Antichrist.' Revelation calls him the 'Image of the Beast.'

I totally agree the 70th week is in the end of this age. But surely none of it can be meaning in the literal sense though, where it will involve a literal temple in Jerusalem, with a literal person sitting in it, where, in the middle of the 7 years this same one sitting in it puts an end to animal sacrificing yet again, even though 2000 years ago, by Christ first dying then resurrecting, then the temple in Jerusalem getting utterly destroyed in 70 AD, these things together already putting an end to animal sacrificing in a temple 2000 years ago. There is no logic to animal sacrificing resuming then 3.5 years later being put to a stop yet again. If that was true wouldn't the AC be being doing God a favor since God wouldn't be desiring for animal sacrificing to be resuming in the first place?
Why not?
The Bible prophets describe things and events that can and will literally be fulfilled.

The issue of sacrifices resuming again, is a hard one to grasp, as we are assured that Jesus was the one and only sacrificial Atonement for our sins.
However God did require thank offerings and sacrifices to cover unintentional wrongdoing, etc. It is prophesied that He will do so again, Isaiah 56:7, Zechariah 14:16-21, + many others.
I repeat; sacrifices will resume again, in a new Temple. Proved by how the AC will stop them. Daniel 9:27, Daniel 11:31, 2 Thess 2:4

I’ve put together a chart of symbols from Revelation chapter 12 to17. (would like to do the whole book but got puffed out)

One of the things that intrigues us is how Revelation, although symbolic, also manifests sometimes as literal. Anyway, here is the chart. Please pick out the symbol that interests you and discuss.

Hi Christian Gedge

I love your Revelation Symbol Chart and how you formatted it. Thank you for sharing.

I smiled in satisfaction when I saw "7 Heads," how you listed Islam as the 7th. I totally agree. Most of the lands that Islam controls were once part of the Roman Empire.

The liberal world wants so much to bury the fact that Islam is that evil force of prophecy since the 7th century onward. The Western nations are under a delusion regarding Islam.

For those willing to see, history shows us 1,400+ years of Islamic conquest, and even now they are again gaining momentum after being overpowered for a time. Muslims all over the world are actively or inactively supportive of the next Caliph. Once that Caliph arrives on the scene, many Muslims will be unified... All good Muslims will do the Caliph's bidding, and that will be a disaster for the "infidel"nations the Muslims now live in.

Also, my belief is that the Islamic nations are the enemy nations in prophecy that surround Israel, and that will come against Israel in the Battle of Armageddon. Yes, the Islamic nations will receive support from other nations far off, but Islam is the actual demonic controlled force that comes against Israel.

Blessings

Hi Setst777,

Yes, the early church expected the Roman empire to be partitioned into 10 kingdoms. After that, the medieval church identified the Islamic caliphate as following. Actually, Martin Luther thought the same, but the reformers were also focused on the Catholic church, so they had a dual Antichrist – Mohammed and the Pope.

For whatever else we might think of the RCC, the original interpretation of the ‘beast’ seems to be best to me - an Islamic caliphate.

Yes, that is true. And today we see how most of the Western world is totally oblivious and naive to the danger Islam poses, and how it fits into the end times prophecies.

And not only oblivious, but actually supporting and aiding Islam, and giving into the demands of Islam, as Islam slowly spread their ideology and influence through mosques, public universities, social media, politics, our laws, through demonstrations, immigration, reproduction, through violent threats and coercion, through terrorism, and/or through buying off and supporting politicians, professors, and those in high places of authority who aid their agenda.

The world sleeps as Islam gains ever greater influence and power all over the world. Yes, we have some faithful and brave souls who are standing against Islam, and who actually care about our future - the US President is one such person - but most could not care less, and are actually supporting Islam's goals and agendas for a price, and for a temporary peace, while Islam gains more control. Such persons are gutless traitors. Unfortunately, the democratic party today, in general, falls into that category, along with the left and the liberals.

Sorry, I might have to leave it to others to make suggestions on that one. But I'm sure it means something. Revelation is filled with symbols and nothing is without significance!

The use of the word "eagle" is quite different between the two Passages. For instance,

Revelation 8:13 describes an "eagle flying overhead" pronouncing judgment and destruction. The symbolism of an eagle flying overhead means impending doom to those whom the eagle chooses to prey upon below.

Revelation 12:14 describes the woman (Israel) being
"given two wings of a great eagle to fly" from the presence of the serpent. This imagery shows how the faithful in Israel are brought to safety from the serpent who desires to destroy her.

A huge jetliner - a jumbo jet - would seem to fit this imagery of "given two wings of a great eagle" for which Jews will be rescued during the tribulation. The eagle's wings symbolize strength and safety.

For example, when Israel became a nation, the Jews suffered great persecution in other lands, including in Islamic countries that were furious that the Jews received the Land of Israel after the 2nd world war. In those cases, the Jews were rescued by huge jets that safely transported those persecuted Jews to Israel for their safety.

In like manner
, in the time of the anti-Christ, the Jews will again be persecuted - but this time right in Israel, because anti-Christ will rule from Israel during the tribulation. So the faithful Jews will board huge jets to be taken away to a safe place after the anti-Christ gains temporary control of Israel and begins to rule from that location during the tribulation.

Those Jews who chose not to escape Israel will be slaughtered and imprisoned by the anti-Christ in Israel when the Tribulation is in full force. 2/3 of the Jews in Israel will be slaughtered.

Blessings

setst RE: True. However, for clarification, the Lord's Day is not the same as the Tribulation. The Day of God's wrath occurs at the end of the Tribulation - which is cut short unless all men were destroyed. The Islamic nations will come against Israel before that Great Day of God's Wrath.

Leviathan - Wikipedia

Leviathan (Hebrew) = Lotan (Ugaritic) = Tannin (Hebrew & Canaanite) = Tehom (Hebrew) = Tiamat (Mesopotamian)

the meanings range from a coiling 7-headed serpentine sea monsters (cp. Revelation) to the deep abyss wherein they reside

We are in the church age though. This great tribulation you speak of will be involving the church. According to Revelation 13, the beast makes war with the saints, and then overcomes them. Saints are meaning the church, not unbelieving Jews in Israel.

Why would the AC need to put a stop to animal sacrificing in a Jewish temple? To accomplish exactly what?

It makes perfect sense to put an end to animal sacrificing in a Jewish temple 2000 years ago. It does not make perfect sense to do it yet again some 2000 years later, but this time the AC causing it to cease.

A reasonable possibility if all we had was the book of Revelation. But we also have precursors from former days, and non-symbolic scriptures such as 2 Thess 2:4. Also, the abominations in earlier times had an uncanny habit of repeating in the same place.
  1. Antiochus Epiphenes swine flesh (168 BC)
  2. The defiant mending of the curtain (30 AD)
  3. The defilement by Roman soldiers (70 AD)
  4. The erection of Dome of the Rock (692 AD)
So, this particular prophecy seems to be unfolding gradually, and this is why I think something will happen there again. I doubt that the Zionist Jews will get their rebuilt animal-sacrificing temple. What I think will happen (only thinking ) will be some kind of 'world religion' where Jerusalem is chosen to build a blasphemous 'new age' temple. I think they will promote it as a final solution for the ongoing strife in the world between the world religions.

I understand your angle. I also appreciate your knowledge and heart for history.

Anything is obviously possible, but the understanding of the NT writers from Christ's statement re the temple was that the temple was spiritual.

Another side note is that according to this, Jesus could not come any day. We are going to have to wait for this rebuilding in order for this to occur. I struggle with that.

If one uses the 70th week as a pattern, then takes that to involve a literal temple in the future. This is what one ends up with---animal sacrificing has resumed, apparently at the beginning of this 70th week, where it is then put to a stop altogether some 3.5 years later by the AC.

You are describing Dispensational Futurism which is full of discrepancies and error. Best not to put a "gap" between 69 -70 weeks. This is where it gets messy. Another messy eschatological view is "double fulfillment" this can lead a Christian into much error as it presumes what has already been fulfilled can be fulfilled again. This is even more dangerous as it can give a Christian liberty to read anything into scripture.

Sorry, I never thought about format. Here is the text for people to cut and past as required.

Why is the 'woman' metaphorical in your list when the 'child' is identified as a real person (Jesus) and even the dragon is identified at the real person (Satan)?

You are describing Dispensational Futurism which is full of discrepancies and error. Best not to put a "gap" between 69 -70 weeks. This is where it gets messy. Another messy eschatological view is "double fulfillment" this can lead a Christian into much error as it presumes what has already been fulfilled can be fulfilled again. This is even more dangerous as it can give a Christian liberty to read anything into scripture.
Blessings

There can be a gap between those weeks though without it having to involve Dispensationalism. Initially Daniel's people were mainly meaning Jews such as himself. Over time though this has evolved where Daniel's people aren't just meaning Jews such as himself, but are now meaning Jew and Gentile alike, IOW the NT church. I then see the 70th week involving the NT church, and not unbelieving Jews like Dispensationalists tend to think. Therefore none of these things have to be taken in a literal sense where it might involve a literal temple in Jerusalem, etc.

We are in the church age though. This great tribulation you speak of will be involving the church. According to Revelation 13, the beast makes war with the saints, and then overcomes them. Saints are meaning the church, not unbelieving Jews in Israel.

Hi David,

The tribulation actually involves Israel, the Jews, and her offspring - the Christians.

Revelation 12:13-17
13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach. 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. 16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

All prophecy about the end is centered around Israel, and all the nations that surround Israel: See Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah and others.

The Saints are not just Christians. 144,000 Jews are sealed by God as witnesses sent out to evangelize before and during the Great Tribulation.

While a Jew may not yet be in the New Covenant, God always has mercy on those who believe in the God of Israel. God will surely saves a huge remnant of Jews in the end times, and Lord Jesus actually will appear again in Israel during the Battle of Armageddon to save Israel from the invading armies... For instance, See: Zechariah 12 and Zechariah 14

God still has mercy on Israel, though for a time the Jews, as a people, were disciplined by God. Even now, God is with Israel. The rebirth of Israel in 1944 was fulfillment of Prophecy. So is the regathering of Jews to Israel. Many more such prophecies. God has not forgotten His people, Israel.

Zechariah 12:1-13 (NIV)
A prophecy: The Word of the Lord concerning Israel.

1 The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares: 2 “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. 4 On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the Lord. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. 5 Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the Lord Almighty is their God.’

6 “On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.

7 “The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. 8 On that day the Lord will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord going before them. 9 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.

Mourning for the One They Pierced
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. 11 On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, 13 the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, 14 and all the rest of the clans and their wives.

Zechariah 13:1 (NIV)

1 “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

Zechariah 14:1-5 (NIV)
The Lord Comes and Reigns
1 A day of the Lord is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls.

2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

Blessings
