• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was diagnosed with Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) a couple of years ago.

It doesn't really affect my vision unless my blood sugar starts getting low.

The doctor recommended that I take the AREDS-2 vitamins twice a day, which I do faithfully.

He said they may or may not help, but they are worth a try.

I get an eye exam every year, and he has seen no progression.
He says it may become an issue in my 80s (I'm 65 now), but I won't live that long.

I don't know exactly what I have, but my tick-borne disease affects many things including the eyes. I am on herbal self-treatment for it, and when my eye problems surfaced I looked into it and came up with lutein and zeaxanthin, which are found together in nature, and also others including bilberry and ginko. I take them as part of a much larger regimen to boost immunity, strengthen various body functions, detox, and attack the diseases themselves, and I have definitely seen eye improvement in the three months I've been taking them.

I'm glad to see that AMDF is onto this: Lutein May Decrease Risk of Macular Degeneration - AMDF. Be sure to watch the short video on that page.

Just my personal testimony. i am not a doctor.
