I posted a half-dozen books that are among my favorites on my personal web site, under the evangelism section, including J.I. Packer's Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God.

Tactics, 10th Anniversary Edition: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions

413T1%2BwtgCL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

In a world increasingly indifferent to Christian truth, followers of Christ need to be equipped to communicate with those who do not speak their language or accept their source of authority. In Tactics, 10th Anniversary Edition, Gregory Koukl demonstrates how to artfully regain control of conversations, keeping them moving forward in constructive ways through thoughtful diplomacy. You'll learn how to stop challengers in their tracks and how to turn the tables on questions or provocative statements. Most important, you'll learn how to get people thinking about Jesus. Tactics provides the game plan for communicating the compelling truth about Christianity with confidence and grace.

Drawing on extensive experience defending Christianity in the public square, Koukl shows readers how to:
  • Initiate conversations effortlessly
  • Present the truth clearly, cleverly, and persuasively
  • Graciously and effectively expose faulty thinking
  • Skillfully manage the details of dialogue
  • Maintain an engaging, disarming style even under attack

Hello Ryan, your link to your personal website seems to be broken, just FYI.

At our church we have been going through the evangelism program " The Way Of The Master" with Kirk Cameron ( yes that Kirk Cameron ) and Ray Comfort. You can find many of the videos on You Tube. Also you can get the book on Amazon. You can also go to livingwaters.com to see the whole program and resources that are for sale including " The Biblical School Of Evangelism" I hope these help, prayers my friend.

One of the best teachings I've sat under that gave hearers help on evangelism was a simple but yet effective teaching called the S.A.L.T. forumula. It's based on Jesus' teaching in Matthew where He called us salt and light. The foundation started with living a holy and loving life that would draw attention to the fact that we are different. And then the rest is as follows when it comes to approaching and interacting with the lost.

S = Say something (Use about anything interesting as a conversation starter. The first step is breaking the ice with somebody.

A = Ask questions (Once a topic is brought up. Find common ground and genuinely inquire about anything from the conversation that you want to know more about.)

L = Listen (It takes discipline, but this next step is crucial. Be quick to hear and slow to speak. Identify important things the person is saying. And wait for the Lord to speak to you too!

T = Turn the conversation to something spiritual. (Eventually, if you are going to witness to them and share the gospel, the discussion must move toward spiritual things. The Holy Spirit must always be the guide to this.

All in all, out of a bunch of things I've learned, this method is the one that sticks out the most to me. It lets me be myself and wait and depend on God to direct things. I recommend it to any believer.
