Because somebody at some point always starts using foul language.
I think people get way too emotional about this. Calling other people names is one thing. But using a more R-rated vocabulary as verbal modifiers in the course of a rant, story, joke or whatever doesn't bother me. And frankly, I don't understand why it bothers anybody.

Since I can be very touchy about this topic I'm not going to look at the replies, so please don't quote this post or reply to me directly as I will likely not respond. Thanks for listening.
I start threads all the time and demand that nobody reply.

Also, I never speak facetiously.

Does that ever work?
Welllllll... it might if the OP launches the thread and then instantly demands that an admin close it. That would probably be effective.

But otherwise... well, you and I are posting replies in this thread. So there's the answer, I guess.

Life is strange.

Yes, that would work. But I could still "like" it if it was awesome.
Even after being closed.

Even when the rules state that cursing isn't allowed at all, people still use two certain so-called "minor" curse words (which I in particular am very tired of), even in front of the staff, and nothing is ever done about it.

Perhaps when even moderators don't take issue with whatever these minor curse words are then the issue may not be so much the language but your reaction to it. I think as Christians there's nothing wrong with having standards for ourselves, but part of loving our neighbor is learning to accept or at least tolerate some differences, rather than simply running from them. Reminds me of Matthew 5:15: "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."

You can get profanity filters for your browser and television. Chat groups are more verbose and the monitoring is pretty slack. Forums do a better job. Though some are less vigilant than others.

And subject is a factor. Some topics attract more rambunctious users than others.
