I'm in my early 60's and with the exception of being a stay at home Mom for 13 years(my husband was an over the road trucker and made enough so I could do so) I have worked full time all my life. Now my job requires every other weekend which makes it more difficult to get to an Orthodox Church(nearest one 1.5 hours away in a nearby city) and even getting more involved in my own church. In my stay- at- home days I taught Sunday School(and continued to do so until 2018) VBS, assisted at our Lutheran Prk-8 school until it closed, was on Altar duty, etc. I'm looking forward to retirement and working part time so I can get more involved in Church and parachurch activities and this spring I hope to get south to visit the closest EO church. And reading and studying. Oh and genealogy, and gardening.

I'm 44 years old, soon to be 45. I plan on retiring at 55. That will have been 32 years of teaching by that time. I will have a very good pension plus my 403b retirement side savings plus Kate's 401k and her social security. We will, God willing, have our house paid off by 55. I plan on traveling all over the world, my dream Dodge Challenger RT is gonna happen, and I'm going to enjoy life because you never know when your body will go south. My mom and dad planned on world travel for retirement, then my mom was stricken with Parkinson's, hip replacements, knee replacements, back surgery, and immobility that has made her almost unable to walk. She is in constant pain and misery. My dad has really slown-down as well.

I'm not going to feel guilty about retirement. I've earned it. I've gone to Hades and back with my job. My wife has worked her buns off to get to where she is. She's in the Nurse Practitioner program right now. One year left. We should be making around $230,000 a year in the next five years. Plan on seeing Gurney reporting in all over the world like Where's Waldo.

That all being said, I will be giving $$$ to charity, especially IOCC and donating my time, prayers, and volunteering locally.

This Masters I’m working on is exhausting, my job is exhausting, my wife is in up to her eyeballs with work and stress, my church is an hour away and exhausting in itself, I’m a union rep going to those meetings, I read and teach Sunday school, plus I’m a father of three shuttling teens all over while doing dishes, running errands, getting gas, and cooking dinner.

I kind of have a few things going on...^_^^_^^_^

oh I never said you needed one. but it's all good, I'm patient.

I had a 96 Camaro Z-28 with the Corvette WS6 handling package. The thing only had 275 HP, but tons of torque. The thing hauled BOOOOTAYYY! It was fast, brother! I had a 73 Plymouth Scamp when I first got married. I put a 360 in that sucker after jerking out the 318. That thing snapped your neck when you hit the pedal. It was 300 HP. These RT challengers now are 375 HP and fast as lightening. The SRT's are just absurdly expensive. The RT's are at least reasonable and attainable and plenty fast for this Mopar-lover. The Scat Pack is an option also.

My post isn't just about living if I'm healthy. I won't consider myself worthless and "done" just because I get ailments or illnesses. My mom has awful health and Parkinson's and so much else, but she's living. I am merely saying I want to try to enjoy some things before I go "full Lo Pan" (Father Matt will get my joke).

RT? Your entire post is about living once and only if your healthy. You need to upgrade to an SRT Hellcat, go all the way.

My grandfather was and is a good steward. He retired in his seventies - living modestly and taking care of my grandmother (who has been ill for decades.) No golf games or extravagances. He's in his mid-eighties and still runs 3 miles 3 times a week. And as long as he can run, read (mostly westerns and spiritual readings), go to church, do carpentry, and be with descendants (up to great grandchildren at this point.) He helps all of us with major expenses to help get life started and to stay out of debt. He helped my parents with their mortgage, helped my brother in law pay off his student debt, and helped me make my down payment on my house. He does so in a responsible way, so that nobody is dependent on his money.
