I was sidetracked by the stats on inappropriate content and masturbation for Christian men and questioned how anyone could mandate purity when half the men in the pews are struggling with the very sins they’re demeaning.

~Bella

It is a huge problem in the Church today, I struggled with it myself some years ago. It took a lot of repenting and seeking help to get free. I would like to think how much more we would see God’s Spirit move if most of the Church was free from sexual sins.

so I’ve had a few elders say something along the lines off

born again Christian women should be avoided when in comes to relationships because generally they were into the party lifestyle drinking doing drugs sleeping around ect before they came to Christ and now that they’ve had there fun and have been played by the players and badboys and gotten sick of that lifestyle they want to come to church and find a good quality man, and it rings quite true.

Now I’m not judging these women every one has mistakes and that’s apart of life, but personally I wouldn’t date one just because a women who’s lived in the church throughout her life is far more likely to be of much better quality and have not engaged in that lifestyle or maybe not to the degree.

What do you guys think of my opinions?
Potentially the opposite can happen. You marry a nice Christian virgin, she gets bored and becomes a party animal, drinking, doing drugs and sleeping around but now she is your wife, under your roof and your paying for it. There are no absolutes when it comes to the flesh.
Good luck.

It’s a serious issue. Laying the blame on one sex is wrong. We all have areas of struggle and sexual sin impacts everyone.

I’m happy to hear God delivered you from your malady. What a blessing! :)

You've heard a few elders say something like this? Have you ever bothered to ask any of these few elders if they have any evidence to prove this claim? I'll bet you have not. I'll bet they have none.
What do you guys think of my opinions?
I think it is a pile of fleshly dross.

I got saved in the mid-80s and am a product of the hedonistic 70s, the "me generation." I am one of those born again men who partied before coming to Christ. I was saved in what was called the "charismatic renewal," and I've known literally thousands of born again men and women and while it is true some of them fit the description of those few elders, most do not. I've known born again Christian women from all over the world and have not found the description generally true of them, either.

That generation of born again women raised their daughters in Christ.

Those few elders are idiots.

I spend my days counseling the partyers who drank ding drugs and sleeping around before and after coming to Christ. These are a minority of all Christians. I suspect what these few elders are speaking from is their practice of pastoral care and viewing the world from the narrow lens of eldership and not a larger view of the whole body of Christ. I further suspect their view is narrowed even further by sectarian bias.

Do you know what the NT calls those who unjustly and unnecessarily divide the body of Christ?

Do you?

You have no proof whatsoever that this was their state of life prior to becoming Christian. If God forgave them, what's your problem?

It’s very easy to tell especially with the types of pictures people post on social media. But I’d rather not wife up a harlot, with you’re attitude I’d be surprised if you haven’t been cucked already.

Only 5% of churchgoers are born again.
I'd like you to think about that statement in light of John 3:3.

According to John 3:3 all Christians are born again. It is impossible to see the kingdom of God unless one is born again. If these "few elders" are insinuating John 3:3 is not applicable to their lives then they are the problem and little if any advice they give should be heeded.

I think your elders have said more of malice than of wisdom and forgiveness. I'm praying about a young woman and I would love her if I found out she wasn't a virgin. Christ loves us, Hosea loves his wife, and God loves the church, all of this while the beloved is unfaithful.

Only 5% of churchgoers are born again.
According to this 2017 article in Christianity Today 29%, not 5%, of Christians identify as born again. This article at the Christian Post found 31% self-identified as born again. A 2008 survey found 34% self-identified thusly. A 2013 Barna Study found 45% were born again. A 2016 Christian Daily article based on a Barna study found 35%.

I think you or whoever your source was should check their facts. These elders are saying you should not date a sixth of the Christian population are conniving and manipulative former party-girl [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]s looking for a good man in the born again ranks. Do you think born again women marry not-born again men? In other words, these few elders are suggesting the women are former partying [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]s but the born againmen are good.

Sounds pretty misogynistic to me.

I'm not sure about the validity of this source, but supposedly only 3% of all American supposedly wait for marriage before having sex. What percentage of that 3% do you thik are born-again? Catholic? Presbyterian? Baptist? Pentecostal? Evangelical? Non-denom? Atheist?

According to this 2009 Barna study born again Christians are one percent less likely to divorce than non-born again Christians.

These "few elders"?

Fail.

Complete human understanding, not God's.
Born again women are the very ones God is actively working in and will be the only kind of women to see the Kingdom of God...
Jesus replied, “I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that his OP was sincere, even if a bit ridiculous, but now after that less-than-lovely response I'm more of the belief that he's just trolling considering his post count.

If you want to personally avoid women who were previously involved in drugs, alcohol, sex, and so on, that is up to you. Clearly, no one can stop you from avoiding these women. However, keep in mind that we have all come short in the glory of God, and that sin is sin to God, no matter what kind of sin. If I were you, I would wait one year before I'd start dating someone who decided to give one's life to Christ after getting involved in drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. In this manner, you'd know that this person is serious about his/her relationship with God (in this case, her relationship). Additionally, keep in mind that you're eliminating your chances in meeting a good spouse if you choose to be concerned with one's life prior to accepting Christ.

I was thinking the same thing. "Let's see what the so called Christians do when I call the women in their congregations harlots."
