Biblical Sites, Ancient Wonders, the Last ‘Garden of Eden’: Here’s What Trump Just Threatened to Bomb in Iran

Currently, there are 22 cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Iran. Among them is the ancient royal city of Persepolis, in the southwest of the country, which was once the capital of the Achaemenid empire in the sixth century BCE. UNESCO describes it as “among the world’s greatest archaeological sites” and having “no equivalent.” The city was founded in 518 BCE by Darius the Great and includes a number of remarkable palatial buildings, terraces, and an architecturally remarkable throne hall.

If Darius the Great sounds familiar, it might be because—according to the biblical book of Ezra—it was Darius who actually funded the restoration of the (second) Israelite temple in Jerusalem. In doing so, Darius was following a decree offered by another Persian king, Cyrus the Great. Cyrus was responsible for sending the Israelites back home to the Holy Land in the first place after he successfully conquered Babylon (Baghdad) in 539 BCE. For his momentous role in Israelite history, the Bible actually calls Cyrus God’s anointed one, the Messiah: “Thus says the Lord to his Anointed (Messiah), to Cyrus whom I took by his right hand” (Isa 45:1).” Cyrus’ tomb, which was once visited by Alexander the Great, is in Pasargadae, Iran.

because that sure looks like his account and that looks like him threatening to blow up 52 things among which were specifically called "Iranian cultural sites". And resulted in the Pentagon distancing themselves from him. :wave:

Which ones is he gonna blow up?....did he name them?....probably not....just like 99.9% of people couldn't name any cultural sites in Iran...tulc you get so worked up over nothing......LOL

hmmm...the country has 22 sites and he wants to blow up 52 sites including "Iranian cultural sites" what are the chances none of those would have been on his hit list? Considering he had no idea it was something the military wouldn't let him do? :scratch:

well to be fair, I'm not a big fan of war crimes and am interested in history, this just seemed to be something it would be good to pay attention to. :wave:

I find it doubtful President Trump knows what a world heritage site is unless there's a golf course involved or it's under consideration for a possible Trump tower to be built there. :wave:

Yet your accusing him of threatening to take them out and accusing him of threatening war crimes over rhetoric..

Like you mentioned, he just might know which golf course to target in Iran though. .. haha

I think Trump says stuff at times to get under people's skin, and he did a good job with his 52 sites deal. People can speculate about what he meant for at least a week, and fill the news cycle with it. lol they will bring all kinds of experts in to discuss culture sites inside the country, and continue on with the WWIII stuff. It tends to help the ratings, and scare people enough that they continue to tune in.

It's another one of those rinse and repeat things with his tweets. It's their job to report the tweets, because they are suppose to do that. The days long speculation - and no doubt soon alleged sources - will come soon as well. Then they story dies when someone else comes up. Then it starts all over again just in a new direction.

(Shrugs) I have got to the point where I pay 1/2 attention to this stuff. I will admit though it is effective in scaring people, which is what they want to do. That helps their bottom line, and they do need to do that so the corporation sees they are worth the investment.

I just hope that it doesn't get to the point when something else happens that needs the attention pointed towards it, and people stopped listening because they cried wolf to often.

No, what I'm saying is he probably just figured "I think I'll just pick 52 sites to bomb, and this list of places tourists visit would be a a good place to start." The idea that it might be illegal to do that wouldn't probably be something that would occur to him. Because again, unless it's a golf course or something connected to his bottom line, nothing else is of any consequence.
