• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Why not see a doctor? At the very least they can help figure out what, if anything, is actually wrong.
I would, but my mom have to drive me as I cannot drive due to various health problems related to my disability and she says that I am obccessed with it. I go to the doctor in October or November for my check-up if this keeps on and I have not gotten my mother to take me yet I will just insist and demand something is done because father first got it at 48. by that point I will be 28.

Ok. If you're worried, it might not hurt to at least get it checked. Hopefully your mom would be ok with that!

I am glad to hear it: you have put yourself through months of anxiety over this, and deserve a solution. Experience tells me that knowing the reality (which is probably nothing!) is always better than the nagging fear of not knowing, even if there is nothing to know. God bless you with peace, and with a clear and reassuring answer.

maybe so but the issues have persisted for seven months now, so either there is something going on or my OCD ( which I have been told by a medical professional I have) is really acting up.

Agreed. When I say you have 'put yourself through this' I mean it in a technical sense, not apportioning blame. It is a technical fact that the turmoil comes from within you, not imposed by some external person or factor. As you say - something is happening, so you need help to resolve whether it is the one or the other, so you can deal with it accordingly.

God bless you, and give you strength to do what you know needs to be done! Please tell us how you get on!

If there is any doubt, ask your Doctor for advice and a colonoscopy.
I went on the 23nd of Dec. She gave me some stuff to help told me to come back on the 20th of this month and we will go from there. Said we should consider IBS first.

freaking out AGAIN this time a year a half after having the test.
Just curious, how often did your doctor say you should have a colonoscopy? If you have been cleared you shouldn't worry till your next test.

And I strongly advise to keep to the recommended schedule. I waited decades between colonoscopies and the last one they removed a host of polyps. Thank God they were precancerous. I had seen what my uncle had gone through with colon cancer so I can totally relate to the fear. My grandfather died of it, too. You would think I would have known better! They told me in my twenties to have tests regularly.

Also, are you taking a pro-biotic for the IBS? I discovered Colon-Guard and it works like magic - within an hour. Kinda expensive but worth it. I only have occasional flair-ups so can stretch the med out. Having it on hand helps alleviate the fear between tests. I rarely think about it in fact.

every five years as a result of my family history. It has been roughly 1.5 years since my last one (first one) and now those types of issues are back and I am wondering if it is in my head (I have OCD) or something to seriously be worried about. I mean if something is there I have a number of years before I am due again,
