It's not the first time Presidents have lied, I mean, incorrectly linked countries to 9/11.

George Bush last night admitted that Saddam Hussein had no hand in the 9/11 terror attacks, but he asked Americans to support a war in Iraq that he said was the defining struggle of our age. 9/12/2006

He said the opposite thing on the same day.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia, the main sponsor of terrorism in the world, is a friend?

Nineteen of the 9-11 hijackers were Saudi Arabian citizens and Sunni Muslims. The Iranians are Shiite Muslims who also hate Christians. Russia backs Iran. Iran backed the Hezbollah who attacked Israel from Lebanon in 2006. Iranian and Saudi allies have been at war with each other in Yemen.

The Iranian general was executed after he ordered attacks that killed hundreds of Americans in Iraq (New York Times). The general was blamed for the demonstrations at the US embassy in Iraq where they chanted, “Death to America.”

If you read the whole article it says essentially what Pence said, just not in the same words. But he’s a republican so he must be bad. And wrong.
And I’m curious as I look at the thread title. Who assassinated a whole country? That’s a lot of people.

The U.S. 9/11 Commission assembled to investigate the attacks concluded that Iran played a role in facilitating the al Qaeda terrorists.

My grandpa told me a long time ago a VP was mocked around the world for not knowing how to spell the word potato correctly. Pence's manipulative, dumb blunder is so much worse.

Thanks. I believe the documents seized during Operation Neptune Spear close the case on this. They show communications between bin Laden, Iran and their surrogates.

No. Because Iran didn't confess to knowing about al Qaeda's plans to attack the US on 9/11, nor did they knowingly assist the 9/11 hijackers. Your source is misrepresenting what was said in the Mohammad-Javad Larijani interview.

Here is the interview that the above quote from Larijani came from.


He is in no way confessing that Iran played a role in the 9/11 attack and even refers to the 9/11 Commission Report where it talks about the hijackers passing through Iran on their way to Afghanistan and how they chose this route because the Iranian government routinely didn't stamp the passports of Saudi nationals.

From the 9/11 Commission Report:

"KSM and Binalshibh have confirmed that several of the 9/11 hijackers (at least eight, according to Binalshibh) transited Iran on their way to or from Afghanistan, taking advantage of the Iranian practice of not stamping Saudi passports. They deny any other reason for the hijackers' travel to Iran. They also deny any relationship between the hijackers and Hezbollah."

And once again the conclusion:

“We have found no evidence that Iran or Hezbollah was aware of the planning for what later became the 9/11 attack."

Even if Iran did have a direct hand in 9/11, do you really believe they would publicly confess to it? Common sense tells us that they wouldn't.
