So today I went to the laundromat with my parents to do laundry because our washer is broken (I made a mistake this morning that I am not too proud to mention), and while I was sitting there I believed in Jesus again and then GOD once again came and talked with me.

GOD only responds to those who have faith. People who do not believe will never see him.

But how does one have a personal relationship with Him? Its complicated, and for an introvert like me I don't always have a lot to say...

The basics of Christian life are reading the Bible and praying daily, attendance at weekly church services and living in a way that honours God.

One does not have to spend hours in prayer, just to regularly have a few moments talking to God.

Daily Bible readings are recommended and church attendance is a must.

Hi, Jacqueline. I have a view about this and I'm sure some others will disagree. In my view, too much is made of the idea of a "personal relationship" with Jesus. It causes a lot of people to think they hear voices from God, they get so that they are devastated if every last prayer is not answered exactly as they want, and/or they despair and lose their faith if things in life do not go as smoothly as they anticipated.

What a "personal relationship" means--and this is eminently Scriptural--is that we believe Christ paid for our own sins (as well as those of other people), that his promises are true, and that we trust him for our future...just as he said we should do.

A great sense of relief and confidence can follow that understanding, but it doesn't mean that God is any person's private miracle-worker, always guaranteed to do whatever we demand at the moment, or that we cannot make any move in life without God first telling us through a dream or some omen or hearing a voice, exactly what to do and how to do it.

Being a introvert isnt a problem. God does talk with us (John 10:27). We can vertify what we can hear against Scripture. If it cant be, then we can pray about it and asks Him to confirm it.
(Acts 9;9-19 especially v 10-12; II Cor 13:1).

If we run out of things to say to Him, we can pray Scripture such as the Psalms. Praise and worship to Him are important aspects of developing a relationship with Him.

Suggest / encourage you to study God's titles, names and attributes which w(ll probably take awhile because there's hundreds. Online some resources have the Scripture listed so those are the ones I prefer.. That way the information can be checked out. Then research who we are in Christ Jesus according to Scripture.
‐----–---‐--------
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." I John 5:7. Word = Jesus Christ "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14)

Jesus said it simply: "You must be born again" = Have a circumcised heart made not by human hands.
Being born again is by the will of the Father from heaven - not by the will of man, nor of the flesh.
Thus, ONLY if the Father accomplishes this, is it accomplished - no one can make it happen no matter what they do.

Most of the time , throughout all the world, whenever anyone says "God spoke to me", it was some other spirit that spoke to them - a lying spirit, a deceiving spirit. This is most common, and 'accepted' all too often, for whatever reason. The temptations we experience are very common world wide. (not unique to us) ... and world wide, most people refuse to ever repent of serving the enemy. (this is written in Revelation, and verified with all Scripture, including Ephesians 2, Galatians, 1st John, all Scripture is in harmony.

We have to become like a child and seek God in simplicity and purity. Then we can try to understand the mysteries after we grow and mature.

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving
20Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” 21At that time,

Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and declared,

“I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,

because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned,

and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight. 22All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”…

I think we need to learn the Hebrew alphabet. They should teach this in Kindergarten and they don't and that makes it difficult for people to understand the Bible. Hopefully during the 1,000 year reign of Christ we will have MUCH better teaching and that will make things a lot easier for people to learn their Bible. I was very bored in public school because the teaching was so pathetic. The people were good people but they did not receive a proper education. Eventually I was put into a private school that was based more on a European education and that make a big difference. My son has studied math, math and more math. So much he will end up with the equivalent of a masters degree in applied mathmatics. In all of that he took one literature class & that was back in High School.

THIS IS WONDERFUL ! @INSIGHTFUL TRUE and obviously WILL BE. For today, Jesus Praise to the Father for Revealing Salvation to the little children (us today) AND everything concerning SALVATION, IN THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT, as the Promise of His Word, as His Plan which is not only good but is perfect,
stands truthful in a world full of sin and doubt and unbelief. Those who be becoming little children learn from Him, Hear His Voice, and Follow Him Today - we will not follow another voice.

As Charles Dickens said: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". This time is the best the world has ever seen and it is the worst. There is more of the power of God to rescue - save - heal and deliver people. Saints in the past have look forward to this decade and Saints in the future look back on this time that we are living in. We will be writting books now that they will be reading hundreds of years from now.

You do not think that God is able to rescue, save, heal and deliver people from this drug epidemic that we are in? That is going to be sad news for the people wanting to get set free from their bondage to drug addiction. A result of taking pills that were prescribed by a doctor or dentist and filled by a pharmacist.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us" (Hebrews 12:1)

Oh, God is well able to save EVERYONE WHO TURNS TO HIM.

That was never in question.

The drug epidemic is simply the tip of the iceberg according to all Scripture.
People might want to be free of it, or might not - but they are living in a system that promoted it and caused it and made it very difficult for them to not get addicted and makes it very difficult for very many to recover.
