You've heard or seen this a A LOT in movies, books, magazines, psychology, even in religion:

- Power is dirty
- Good men don't run after power
- You good people should seek humble places
- Good men refuse offer of power

As a result:

- Evil and corrupt men are often found in the seats of power - they basically
run the whole world
- Good men and women are often found in positions where they are unable to make
long and lasting changes (for the good) in this world.
- Often what many thinks are good men and women and seem to have changed the world
are actually evil (they have no idea what goes in and around things - John 7:7)
- Society as a whole (the whole planet) exists in an eternal state of evil
where women sell their bodies to advance in society, the weak are
exploited, harrassed, and denied justice.

Good men and women should seek positions of weakness and of least influence??? Is that a joke??

So.... If you still believe the first ideology, do think. Had society made a great fool out of you??

There is a great difference between seeking power for selfish motives and seeking influence for the kingdom of God. The problem with power is that it can become like a drug. I'd not run for a seat in parliament, for example. I'd not see any problem with being a public servant. It's not easy though. Decent and upright workers are often sidelined because they do not toe the PC line.

I think it’s very important to pursue positions of authority and influence if you have the gifts and talents to do so. That’s why you have them. We should seek God’s input for their application and purpose.

I believe we’re meant to impact all echelons of society. We must be willing to step out of the shadows and walk in faith and courage.

If you haven't done that, how certain are you that the position will corrupt your values or not?
Easy. 68 years of watching it happen to others. I'm not immune to temptation.

They too will die as any other mortal.

(Wonder if they realize that)

Not everyone ends up rotten with power. My 20 years of observation is that people who ends rotten with power is already rotten to begin with.

Remember Moses was also very doubtful of his great calling (he did seem to refuse it at first). He eventually accepted a position of great power and ended up being great at it.

And then we have Abraham Lincoln etc.

Do not be afraid to take risks if for the sake of the Lord.

Matthew 16:25
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.

There's a difference between seeking power as its own reward vs seeking power in order to serve others with distinction, fairness, and justice according to the Lord's Will.

It does not take much to turn thr bankclerk, the butcher,
baker into a monster.

Give them a pair of shiny high jackboots, a black uniform,
a cap with a skull and crossbones, and a pistol.

You could be judging others and yourself unfairly. Not everyone will turn bad if handed great power. We have examples of this in the Bbile.

You are listening to the teachings of this world. Teachings of this (evil) world to keep evil men and women in power and for good men and women to reject power.

Do not limit God's Will for others and yourself.

If you have the resources to help a brother or sister in need and didn't help them, how can the love of God be in you? (1 John 3:16-18)

Resources isn't just limited to what we already possess but also our own strength and abilities.

Don't be lazy in what you can be for the Lord. Love the Lord with everything you got. Seek the Lord's rewards NOT the temporal rewards of this world.

Do it right, it's an uphill battle. It will be full of hardships.

As we read of the great examples in the Bible and also in history.

Many Christians don't want that. They want everything to be easy.

Many Christians don't want that. They want everything to be easy.

My parents instilled the importance of leading and excellence in all we did throughout our childhood. Reason played a huge part in both. We had to articulate the reasons for our decisions and explain our performance. They didn’t want us to be comfortable with excuses or mediocre effort. In their mind, if God provided the ability it was meant to be used.

I’ve seen the benefit of that mindset and work ethic throughout my life. Industriousness always pays off and when its fueled by God you can accomplish much.

I think a lot of people want results without the effort. And hardships are an excuse for inaction. My Christian business associates are eager to make their mark and shake things up for the Lord. But they’re the exception. I don’t hear that from others or see a similar drive either.

I believe power, wealth, and influence are in God’s hands. We’ll never exceed the mark He’s set. We’re supposed to move towards it. Not sit on the sidelines.

Power does the dead no good.

If you're thinking of selfish means to use power.

That's why power is meant to serve the living.

Even if few can handle power the right way, few is better than none.
