Why would God created ugliness?

I appreciate beauty as much as the next person, but not everything I see is beautiful. At this time of year, in the winter time, the mountainside where I live sheds all of its leaves and is laid brown, waste, and bare. The appearance of it is very ugly and an eyesore to look at. Thus I don't look at the mountainside too much because of that.

Also I never thought that I was a good looking person, so I never look at myself in the mirror.

Why would God create people and landscapes that are not beautiful to behold? It's not eye candy to look outside my window or to behold myself in the mirror.

Is it because this world is marred by sin and that is why things have ugly appearances?

I am just saying that, not everything I look at is beautiful. Some things I behold are actually quite ugly, and then I want to get rid of those things...

I guess the garden of Eden was a paradise of perfect beauty. Sometimes I wish such a place like that existed, instead of this ugly mountainside I am beholding...

You need to learn to draw and paint so you can see, when a person can really see everything is beautiful. Winter and its grey/gray tones are beautiful.

Anything under the sun is beautiful if you have the vision-it is the seeing of the thing that makes it so. The world is waiting for men with vision - it is not interested in mere pictures. What people subconsciously are interested in is the expression of Beauty, something that helps them through the humdrum day, something that shocks them out of themselves and something that makes them believe in the Beauty and the glory of human existence.
The painter will never achieve this by merely painting pictures. The only way that he can appeal to humanity is in the guise of the high priest. He must show people more - more than they already see, and he must show them with so much human sympathy and understanding that they will recognize it as if they themselves had seen the Beauty and the Glory. Here is where the artist comes in.

Imagine how beautiful the garden of Eden was before sin yet even in death and ugliness and sin, God works for the good. If the grass didn’t die and there weren’t cycles of seasons the land would get overgrown and make a fire hazard and also new growth wouldn’t come in the spring

Sometimes the true 'beauty' of something cannot be seen from the surface.

That said the winter reminds us of the cycle of life, we shy away from it because it reminds us of death. The Spring is what we look forward to when things start to grow again and new life begins anew.

Beauty contrasts to ugly. By comparison beautiful things are more beautiful because ugly things are ugly. If everything was equally beautiful then we would just see all beautiful things as being boring and just average.

A question I always ask myself: Why did God make me so ugly? He made me that way for the lulz, I guess.
What humans see and what God sees are totally different. There are many 'beautiful people in this world that from Gods perspective are filled with ugliness inside.

There is beauty in everything. A photographer or artist would have little problem in finding beauty in your mountainside or you. All a matter of perspective. Beauty to the extreme can also be a nightmare when exploited.

But a verse from Isaiah about Jesus sums it all up.

Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

We are naturally drawn to some things and not to others. That diversity is important. Our insight enables others to see with different eyes and deepen their vision.

I am innately aesthetic and became increasingly so through my purpose and creative development. I derive pleasure from beauty in various forms. I often choose items whose utility and appearance are appealing. I seek the same in literature and various art forms.

We’ve been given a world filled with different cultures and numerous people utilizing the gifts and talents God bestowed. It’s a never-ending cornucopia of beauty. Choose a subject to explore and dive in. You’ll encounter it pretty fast.

1 Samuel 16:7
"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Ugliness is man's invention. We're the ones who judge by appearances. God does not.

As the saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
It's subjectively determined, rather than objective.

The difference in us and God is that he doesn't view anything but disobedience as ugly. He sees all souls, regardless of what physical features enclose them, as beautiful.

I know this thread started a long time ago, but I wanted to add something for the benifit of those who are looking for similair answers to the question; why did God make something or someone ugly? And the simpley answer is, he didn't. When God created the heavens and the earth, man and women, they were created perfect. However, after the fall of man, this changed everything; including perfect genetics. Inperfect genetics comes from sin entering into the world. That's why we have people born of different statures, short or tall, skinny or fat. Some have gentic abnormalities and are born with birth defects. When the new heaven and new earth comes, as described in Revelations, it will go back to being perfect. But take heart, God looks at the inside; into the heart of men and women where your beauty to Him comes from the inside.
