The idea that the singular they, which has been in use in English for almost 700 years now (yes, really) is somehow to be considered a 'new' word because it is now being connected with 'non-binary' people is the silliest thing I've heard since I first heard about the existence of 'non-binary' people.

I gotta tell ya, I find myself hoping for the giant meteor on a regular basis now.
