ZEAL WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE

Pr 19:2 It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

The unbelieving Jews were in this category. "For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness." Rom 10:2,3 So also for Muslims today, zealous in their faith, but ignorant of the knowledge of God contained in the Bible.

This is not to discourage zealousness per se. Of Jesus it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me." John 2:17 And Paul writes to the Galatians saying, "It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always and not just when I am with you." Gal 4:18 So also he instructs, "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." Rom 12:11

But zeal or enthusiasm which is not based on proper information is not a good thing and may have seriously bad consequences. Therefore, not to discourage the zealous, but those who are enthusiastic need to control themselves not to be too hasty, but to make sure their applications are based upon proper information.

Good for you! But you're going way out on a limb here.

As far as I can tell, the prevailing sentiment here is "Ignorance is bliss. We don't need no stinking learning. We just believe like little children, just as Jesus wanted. Knowledge and information are the devil's tools."

It's a weird attitude, but it does seem to be prevalent.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, not the end-all and be-all. With this perspective, the acquisition of knowledge and information can lead to a much deeper understanding and faith.

And blaiming the Jews could easily be construed as antisemtic.
There are plenty of current practises you could have used as an illistration.

As you said zeal or enthusiasm not based on an awareness of the world could have seriously bad consquences.

So you're saying Paul was anti-semetic? And which "current practice" can be quoted in the Bible as I quoted an example directly from the Bible. Or are you anti-Bible?

If all one does is quote a selected part that attacks a group, that can be seen to be anti semetic.

You could easily show your spirit lead, spirirtual and senistive nature by how you apply scripture to modern life.

As it is you merely come across as being unaware of other people and there problems.

Here's what you're criticizing, I quote:

The unbelieving Jews were in this category. "For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness." Rom 10:2,3 So also for Muslims today, zealous in their faith, but ignorant of the knowledge of God contained in the Bible.

Seems you're the one who cherry picks quotes. Didn't I also mention Muslims? Furthermore if you were to exercise basic reading comprehension skills you would notice I used the past tense regarding Jews "were in this category". Why do you suppose I used the past tense? Could it possibly be because I was talking about the same Jews that Paul was talking about at the time?

Apparently you seem to be a bit prejudicial in how you read things. And right now I'm criticizing that prejudice of yours.

As for your insistence upon political correctness I think Jesus would say, "The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil." John 7:7
