Melania Trump Issued a Statement About Donald Trump Mocking Greta Thunberg

Given that the first lady has chosen to focus on anti-bullying initiative "Be Best" during her time in the White House, it's not surprising that people called on her to act — or even make some kind of statement — after her husband bullied a teen online.

On Friday, she made a statement to CNN reporter Kate Bennett through White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who sent out a statement reading, "BeBest is the First Lady's initiative, and she will continue to do all she can to help children. It is no secret that the President and First Lady often communicate differently — as most married couples do. Their son is not an activist who travels the globe giving speeches. He is a 13-year-old who wants and deserves privacy."

I wonder if there's a list of the kids on the "Be Best" website that it's perfectly okay to attack and bully? :scratch:

Seems as though the "Thunberg Kid" is the bully in this instance. She (and her "handlers") want notoriety, and she's GOT it (And all that comes with it).

yeah, because she attacked President Trump by being picked for Times person of the year...she knew how easy it was to trigger poor 73 year old President Trump. He's the real victim in all this. :sigh:

Adults generally shouldn't go after children, who have little means to defend themselves. In this case, she seems to have a rather daunting advantage in IQ and maturity on him.

You know, I agree with that. It's really bad when grownups Tweet out attacks on teenagers.

Especially if the grownup in question is somebody with a big platform and a large following who demands that the teenager be harassed even though the teenager did literally nothing at all.

I think some of his supporters will say just about anything in their attempts to rationalize and justify his juvenile and irrational behavior. It must be a very daunting task for them to keep up with him.

I think he insulted her because (1) he is really jealous of her because she received an award that he didn't and she's getting a lot of attention, and (2) she's a female with a high IQ. I think he probably feels threatened by that fact. I think he's jealous of her and her success. If he wasn't so jealous and angry about the attention she's getting, then he wouldn't have gone after her to insult and mock her.

I agree with the author of the article: "The implication in her statement is that since Thunberg is an activist who has been in the public eye, she's fair game to be mocked on Twitter by the President of the United States. Though the statement says the first lady "will continue to do all she can to help children," it's clear that she doesn't mean all children here (at least, not Thunberg)." I think the First Lady is hypocritical with her public façade about anti-bullying when she is married to Donald Trump.
