The Case for Impeachment Is Overwhelming | The American Conservative
The House Judiciary Committee has released the two articles of impeachment that it has drawn up against the president. The two articles cover only the president’s abuses of power to solicit favors for his personal benefit and his obstruction of Congress in order to conceal those abuses. The first article of impeachment concludes by saying:

Wherefore President Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. President Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

The case for Trump’s impeachment seemed quite strong more than two months ago, and the evidence provided to the House’s impeachment inquiry has strengthened it further. The president’s abuse of power is not in dispute. It is clear that he used the powers of his office in an attempt to extract a corrupt favor for his personal benefit, and this is precisely the sort of offense that impeachment was designed to keep in check. It doesn’t matter if the attempt succeeded. All that matters is that the attempt was made. It is also undeniable that he has sought to impede the investigation into his misconduct. The president has committed the offenses he is accused of committing, and the House should approve both articles of impeachment.

Trump has gradually eroded American security and influence in the world, and we are weaker and more vulnerable than we have been in the past.

The worst effect he's had is something different. By pandering to the worst of us, he's cultivating fear and hatred of each other.

What do you mean by "stop being afraid of other religions"?

What do you mean by "stop being afraid of other religions"?

The left fearing evangelicals, the right fearing Jews and Muslims, atheists fearing theists, theists fearing athiests, ... (long list).

It needs to stop.

Ok, I agree with this, however I think a lot of what is called fear these days is mistaken for following God's word in being separate from the world. The whole "Coexist" thing where we pat Muslims, Jews (in the earthly sense), atheists, etc. on the back, knowing they are headed for destruction won't fly.

Comes down to one question: "What would Jesus do?" He spent time with publicans, sinners, heretics, and drinkers. He told his followers to emulate a Samaritan heretic who had mercy, rather than a religiously-correct Levite who did not.

Being Christian, I don't think others of other religions are necessarily going to hell; God saves who He will, and it's not by our theology; it's by our hearts, and the way we follow Him. He makes that abundantly clear in places like Matthew 25.

God is not constrained by our theology.

If you think there's another way to Heaven besides Jesus, you need to re-evaluate what you believe my friend. Our theology comes directly from the Bible, God's word, and it specifically states good works will not save you. Also, Jesus spent time with the heretics and sinners to give them to opportunity to follow him, not to tell them they were just fine living in sin.

If you think there's another way to Heaven besides Jesus, you need to re-evaluate what you believe my friend.

That's not what He said. He says that He will save those who took care of the needy, but not those who did not. You're still stuck in the idea that you have to have the right theology or belong some organization of men. It doesn't work that way.

Our theology comes directly from the Bible, God's word, and it specifically states good works will not save you.

Well, let's take a look at what Jesus says...
Matthew 25:31 And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty. [32] And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. [34] Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [35] For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in:

[36] Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. [37] Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? [38] And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? [39] Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? [40] And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.

[41] Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink. [43] I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me. [44] Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? [45] Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.

Sorry, but I'll go with Jesus on this. As God says in scripture...

James 2:24 Do you see that by works a man is justified; and not by faith only?

I'd believe him if I were you.

So...about the AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE publishing that the case for impeachment is overwhelming. You know...the subject of this thread?

Pretty much a lock, when they have the phone transcript, and a some eyewitness accounts.

Plus if Trump is removed from office, he gets replaced by another Republican.

I don't see how that changes anything.

But oh, it's just partisanship, you know.

That, and the felony he committed, I suppose.

Trump is putting the hurts on them.

They've been playing him pretty well. A Saudi national kills several of our troops here in the U.S., and Trump supports Saudi Arabia, and refuses to call it terrorism.

North Korea demands that Trump stop joint military exercises with South Korea as a condition of the North ending its nuclear program. Trump complies, and Kim goes back to building nukes.

Russia attempts an assassination in England, and Trump tries to convince the British that the Russians didn't do it.

But he has been undermining our allies. Now, it looks like Putin has one more task for him:

U.S. President Donald Trump privately said several times last year that he wanted to withdraw his country from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, The New York Times reported on Monday.

A bipartisan group of 18 U.S. lawmakers are leaping to the defense of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, countering President Donald Trump’s attacks that the six-decade-old military alliance is obsolete.

The lawmakers introduced a resolution Thursday that takes aim at the president’s most frequent criticisms of the organization, such as his view that it isn’t oriented toward fighting terrorism. The resolution does not explicitly mention the president by name.

“Since the end of the Cold War, NATO has evolved to take on new dangers including terrorism, the spread of weapons of mass destruction, and cyber attacks,” the resolution states.

Despite concerns that the resolution could be viewed as a swipe against the president, nine Republicans signed on as cosponsors to the legislation, including Reps. Mike Coffman (Co.), Ann Wagner (Mo.), Tom Cole (Ok.), Vicky Hartzler (Mo.), Ted Yoho (Fla.), Doug LaMalfa (Cal.) Leonard Lance (N.J.), John Moolenaar (Mich.), and Andy Harris (Md.).

In describing her support for the resolution, Wagner cited her role as a former United States ambassador to Luxembourg and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “It is incumbent on the United States and our European allies to reinvigorate our global commitment to international order,” she told FP.

The resolution also takes aim at Russia, a country whose president Trump has praised repeatedly and with which he has expressed a desire to have closer bonds.

“Russia has continued to threaten the sovereignty of countries in Europe and exhibit threatening behavior toward our own military assets,” the resolution states. “NATO sends a clear collective message that the Alliance will not tolerate Russia’s provocation.”
Republicans Join Democrats in Defending NATO

It might not be enough. The Senate, headed by Moscow Mitch McConnell, seems less inclined to prevent Russian aggression.

So do we just cast aside this passage?

Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 "Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give youprison and you did not look after me.’ 44 "They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 "He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 "The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ 41 "Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. 46 And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

No Trump doesn't and time to note --
(all US Presidents) have tried to get along well with them -- even Obama.
So -- Trump is No Different.

The Clintons also seem to really like them???
Why Did the Saudi Regime and Other Gulf Tyrannies Donate Millions to the Clinton Foundation?
That the Clinton Foundation has done some good work is beyond dispute. But that fact has exactly nothing to do with the profound ethical problems and corruption threats raised by the way its funds have been raised. Hillary Clinton was America’s chief diplomat, and tyrannical regimes such as the Saudis and Qataris jointly donated tens of millions of dollars to an organization run by her family and operated in its name, one whose works has been a prominent feature of her public persona. That extremely valuable opportunity to curry favor with the Clintons, and to secure access to them, continues as she runs for president.

Sorry, but I'll go with Jesus on this. As God says in scripture...

James 2:24 Do you see that by works a man is justified; and not by faith only?

I'd believe him if I were you.

John 14:6 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Romans 10:8-15 8In fact, it says,

“The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart.”d

And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”e 12Jew and Gentilef are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”g

14But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”h

Matthew 21:42-44 42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:

“‘The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’[h]?

43 “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. 44 Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”[I]

And who could forget this one...

John 3:16 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This should be all the proof you need to know that Jesus is our only hope for salvation, but there's plenty more where that came from if you need. As far as James 2:24, the word ONLY at the end makes all the difference. You should read that entire chapter, because he is talking about how just saying you have faith in Jesus and not following his commandments will not save you. Those who believe in Jesus will also do what he says. This is what he means by "Do you see that by works a man is justified; and not by faith ONLY? (James 2:24)"

I'm not saying (typing) this with any anger or hostility, but you need to do some soul searching my friend, and ask yourself if you believe John 14:6, as well as ALL of God's word. If you didn't know the truth before, now you do; Jesus is the only way. The choice is yours to make, so choose wisely friend.

So do we just cast aside?

There's two kinds of faith, living faith and dead faith. Living faith is BELIEVING in Jesus and do what he said to do. Dead faith is BELIEVING in Jesus and not doing what he said to do. Dead faith is just lip service. That's why faith alone will not save you, but works alone will not save you either. If you have living faith, you will also do what he says. It doesn't negate the fact that you still have to have faith.
