Trump attacks Greta Thunberg for being Time's 'Person of the Year'

KennysID will be waiting for Tulk to start his own version of National Enquirer, because inquiring minds want to know all that petty magazines have to offer.

Trump mocks Greta Thunberg for being Time's 'Person of the Year'

huh...I wonder if President Trump will be getting a stern lecture from Melania ("Be Best") Trump about adults not talking about/attacking kids now?

I admit that Pres. Trump has a Twitter problem. To understand him a little, though, he grew up in Queens, where people have a combative, fighting culture. That doesn't excuse him, but it helps me understand him.

On the other hand, we can't talk about or disagree with teenagers? Why?

Warning.......this discussion is on the Writers Guild Forum and might not be in agreement with the opinion of many posters here but............ surely there are some of us here who could gain some inspiration from this basic concept?

For the record, although I am generally a Trump supporter I do take climate change itself seriously......even though I view a Carbon Tax as a colossal waste of talent, money and energy.

I am into the alternative theory on stabilization of the climate that fits with Isaiah 35
put forward by New Mexico biologist and coach Carl Cantrell.

Concept for a Christian documentary starring Ms. Greta Thunberg....

"So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breathe, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere.. ."

"Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes...."

"Just take a look at any satellite picture of the earth showing heat and you will see that our deserts are the warmest spots on the planet by far. More heat is being generated by just one of the top four or five deserts than by all of our cities combined.... "

"The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave…."

"So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive…."

"Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds…"

"We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. We will need to start with the largest and hottest deserts because cooling them will have the greatest benefit in the least time (Global Warming II by biologist Carl Cantrell)."

This Greta character is the second petulant teenager presuming to lecture adults about something they know virtually nothing about.
Suppose this country enacts a bunch of laws to counter climate change, in the big picture what effect will all that have? Will South America, Africa, China, India etc. take similar steps?

I agree. She's a millennial who thinks she knows everything. She's thin-skinned and needs to have her attitude checked. She's also a smart mouth and a rageaholic. IMO, She's still wet behind the ears and under-educated to the reality of the world. Time magazine used here and she doesn't even know it.

Thunberg is nothing more than an abused child who has been turned into a media star for no particular reason. Man of the year should have been the Hong Kong protesters fighting for their freedom. I can't say that I'm surprised Time picked a socialist extremist over freedom protesters.

She's a zoomer actually, not a millennial. Nothing against the rest of your post though.

I wish all sides of the environmental argument just focused on pollution. It's something nearly everyone can get behind (and those who don't shouldn't matter). Carbon taxes though? Just look at France and see how that works out.

Well, he mocked a disabled person publicly so are we really surprised about this? At this point, we should be thankful he didn't make any comments about her breasts or genital region or boys not liking her.

He flailed his arms about - something he does in a lot of impressions, disabled or not. Only later did people say he was specifically mocking a disability. He himself says he didn't realize that about the guy and forgot.

I guess you could say he was lying though.

I stand corrected you're aright, she's a Zoomer. !996 was the last year for millennial. Im sorry friend but its going to get far worse before it gets better. Sin is a major if not exclusive contributing factor. It is because of sin that we have the problems we have today.

He's a pathological liar and what he says should be taken with an ultra-small grain of salt.

I think he lies (perhaps even to himself, to protect his ego), but I don't think it's pathological. In some ways, he's oddly one of the most transparent presidents. He lays a lot out there that other politicians wouldn't. It's hard to make sense of this combination.

Just take this very tweet about Greta, for example. No other politician would say this. Most would sing her praises. Yet he's transparent about the matter. Yet at the same time, Obama, for all of his defense of environmentalism, just purchased a mega mansion on Martha's Vineyard right on the coast. It doesn't sound like he's actually worried about the environment, just by his actions. So who is lying more? The guy who mocks this girl's fearmongering publicly, or the guy who mocks her fearmongering in secret, with his actions?

She's accomplished exactly nothing. No one is going to make changes because of her wailing in the media...
Oh but I beg to differ. She did accomplish something. She got her 15 minutes of fame.

Sadly, this is how Trump operates. He operates on shock value to stay talked about. He intentionally says stuff that will shock people because he knows it will generate headlines. That's how he got a lot of free airtime during his 2016 campaign.

Yes, the tweet was ridiculous and embarrassing. First, the president should not be making insults or social commentary on others he disagrees with on Twitter, and second he definitely shouldn't be mocking a minor.

What's even sadder than that is many of his followers behave like he does, whether they are Christian or not. Many of them will resort to childish name-calling or disparaging the people they don't like.
And here I thought I was the only one to notice that on various forums.
