Child Trafficking, princes, & people in power

Most will have heard of the train-wreck of an interview with Prince Andrew, in relation to Jeffrey Epstein. It raised the question concerning the depth of the Prince's relationship with Epstein and his activities.

However, this case of child sexual abuse goes to high offices of the USA and UK. Without further comment I attach the legal corruption issues that advantaged the rich and powerful, while attempting to shut down the young teen girls who were trafficked.

and God knows how many others. And of course they are all innocent until there is proof accepted in a court of law.

And its been going on for years according to those investigators. But NOT ONE person has been prosecuted. Epstein was only prosecuted for one relatively low level charge and even then was allowed out to travel and attend business everyday. Scores of young women testifying, and to date NOT ONE prosecuted. All those allegations from scores of women and each man is saying - we know nothing, and they have not so much as been questioned by police as far as I know.

Although I am a monarchist and think the Queen does a great job, no Royal should be above the law. The Duke of York has made a complete idiot of himself and should step down from public office. If he did sexually abuse that woman when she was young he should be prosecuted and given the same sentence any non Royal would receive for committing such a crime.

IMO (possibly IDK) a media campaign orchestrated to strengthen Trumps hand in trade talks with the UK. Whether the accusations are real is not the issue, even if they are they can be covered or ignored. Note, Trump is visiting the Queen just before the UKs upcoming election.

Of course for the victims it is an issue. In the Catholic press its an issue regularly (ie trafficking etc). But I find in the secular press its barely covered. There is no ongoing "moral campaign" against such things. Nor much information. Just every now and again certain people 'just happen' to be highlighted for coverage.

Well, let's give the eighty or so young women, whose pictures were on Epstein's wall so, there's that.... let's give them some credence and not be too quick to say they are falsely alleging they were teen sex slaves, especially when he had already been convicted on one count. The other charges did not proceed initially based on a plea deal - such is money and power

Nearly 400 children have been rescued and 348 adults arrested following an expansive and “extraordinary” international child inappropriate contentography investigation, Canadian police announced Thursday.

The three-year project, named Project Spade, began when undercover officers with the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation service made contact with a Toronto man allegedly sharing “very graphic images” of child sexual abuse in Oct. 2010, Toronto Police Service Chief William Blair said at a press conference on Thursday.

That's literally dangerous for Trump, as he was associated with Epstein. He's got his own re-election to think about next year.

Besides, the traditional media for the most part hates him.

We have seen a few scandals coming out in recent years such as this one with Jeffrey Epstein which could go deeper and expose some rich and powerful people. We have heard about the Leaving Neverlands doco which seems to have been swept under the carpet and the accusations from Corey Feldman which also seems to have been forgotten about or not taken seriously. The Weinstein and Bill Cosby scandal exposed Hollywood's powerful people using their position and money to abuse others.

There has been several inquiries in different countries about institutional abuse of children which has sparked some coming forward who were abused by famous people like Rolf Harris singer and artist, Jimmy Savile British Top of the Pops host, Kevin Spacey, Bryan Singer Hollywood director of x men series and director Marc Collins-Rector and the list goes on. I am sure there are more but it seems there is some resistance in bringing these issues to light. I am sure people in Hollywood know just like they knew about Harvey Weinstein but they turn a blind eye because it is all about wheeling and dealing behind closed doors. Though individuals have been named I think there is some organised abused going on like with the Epstein case that may come out and expose more people who we may by surprised about.

I have been surprised and sickened by the number of people in the public who have been accused/convicted of child sexual abuse. I was very sorry that sick pervert Jimmy Saville died before he could stand trial. I never liked the guy well before his crimes were made public, there was always something creepy about him. I am so glad my husband and I refused to allow our children to apply to go on his show.

I was shocked when Rolf Harris was convicted of abuse, I used to like watching him on TV as a kid.

There was a TV weather forecaster called Fred Talbot, who used to give his forecast stating on a floating map of the UK which was in the Liverpool dock. Our adopted Down's Syndrome son loved watching him as a kid and I suggested he wrote him a letter tell Talbot so. Talbot invited him to stand on the map with him, which he did. Thank goodness our lad never left my sight. I didn't take to the man at all, but couldn't put my finger on why at the time. Years later he was convicted of sexually abusing the boys at his school where he had been a teacher, before he became a weather forecaster. He is still serving a prison sentence.

It would appear sexual abuse seems to have been endemic in the upper echelons of British public life and among those in the public eye!

Sometimes the ones with the sin of 'the love of money' get caught up in many other sins. Their money may protect them for a brief period but, all comes to light eventually.

All including the poor and rich should have to do the time for the crime when caught. We have seen a lot of this lately. Ones that thought they were immune to prosecution being sent away with very long prison sentences. A GOOD THING and setting the right example (for a change).

Unfortunately it is in a lot of places. I don't like the way society is sexualizing children through allowing them to grow up too fast where they are wearing makeup earlier and earlier, promoted on the cat walks in the name of fashion and art, Hollywood young stars being portrayed as adults, the internet exposing young people to inappropriate content and social media promoting selfies where predators can use to prey on children and teens. It is all deviate and we seem to have lost our ability of allowing children to be children.

I'm inclined to believe...with the way things went down...he was an intelligence asset of some kind, blackmailing people who associated with him.

Steve, while I understand your point, the fact is paedophilia was absolutely rampant in most countries, through every institution, including religious institutions, and it was all nicely overlooked until this decade. We turned a blind eye. So its not that children are more grown up - its ALWAYS been this way but society chose to look the other way.

There's so much evidence now that until recently, churches had unlimited and unfettered access to children, and even when abuses occurred, it was the children who were not believed; or if they were, society allowed that nothing be done about it.

In the USA particularly, where child beauty contests are so big, particularly in the 50s-90s, highlights that ground was ripe for abuse. So this is not something new brought on by the internet - its pervaded society and society turned a blind eye.

This case is not something that's evolved because of selfies etc - predators, overwhelmingly men, have always taken advantage to sexually molest children.

I agree with your suggestions to provide better internet protection to children.

What I think about this issue is our generation is finally holding more people accountable and not turning as much of a blind eye (compare all this to the rich 20 years ago with these accusations), but we still haven't caught up enough with some of the truly rich and powerful with some of these suspicions and the same levels of charges despite their pocketbooks if they are found guilty. Hopefully within the next five years we'll get there...? At least people are finally posting some news and acknowledgement. It's not enough yet, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Edited to add: Do I think we'll ever be even with those who are poor and those who are rich consistently receiving the same justice? No.
