Europe is filled with great Gothic Churches, but for me Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral has always been one of the greatest. Not because her soaring bell tower and serrated steeples are so much more beautiful than those of other cities, but because it was St. Stephen's that presided over some of Europe's most consequential battles, when the forces of Islam rode up to Vienna to smash through into Europe and to do to her great cathedrals what they did to Constantinople's Hagia Sophia. I had the opportunity not only to explore the church earlier this year (Mozart's funeral was held here, and the bones of St. Valentine are kept on a chest in one of the chapels), but to give a brief speech on a stage in front of the church for the Austrian March for Life.

Was that Poitires? (Spelled wrong I'm sure) Frankish Knights, about 15,000 vs 25,000 Magyar Horseman.

Or, was it at the gates of Vienna? I was unable to get the link to work.

The battle of Lepatto was also a very significant victory, but I guess we should appreciate the combination of them.
If those brave men hadn't stood up against the Islamic army I'd most likely have been raised a Muslim myself.

The crusaders and the finest of European Christian's made my continent the way it has been until the 70s. God bless them, may each and everyone of them (especially those who died during the battles) enjoy their eternal bliss in heaven.

Our cultural narrative now adays are trying to paint the crusaders as a horrible crime and a tragedy. They're wrong however.

I'm never going to speak of the crusaders as anything, but heroes. I owe them that much!
We're soon giving away our continent, and nations are falling like dominos.

The muslims are greeted as friends, but they dont fool me. Taqiya has been applied to many times throughout history.

They're here to gain the religious and political upper hand, but this is part of the eschatology.
Eternal rest to the heroes of the battles against Islamic forces. I owe my faith and possible salvation partly to you guys!
