Hi all,

In these days of impeachment inquiry and all of the hubbub that it brings to the fore, I think from time to time we should be reminded of the type of leadership that we seem to have.

Donald J. Trump

✔@realDonaldTrump

"When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win. Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore-we win big. It’s easy!"

That was on March 2, 2018. We have now been embroiled in this tit for tat trade war with not only China but several other trading partners as well, for over year and a half. As yet, the USMCA trade deal, which honestly makes fairly minor changes to the trade deal already in place, has yet to be ratified. We're now being told that it's going to be some major victory if we can get signed off on this very minimal partial trade deal with China.

What do most of us believe? Did Donald Trump have a clue what he was talking about in that tweet?

"My first day in office, I am going to ask Congress to put a bill on my desk getting rid of this disastrous law and replacing it with reforms that expand choice, freedom, affordability," said Trump on Oct. 25, a day after he St. Augustine speech, in Sanford, Florida. "You're going to have such great health care at a tiny fraction of the cost. And it's going to be so easy." (Said during his campaigning)

Well, other than the mandate, nothing much has changed concerning our healthcare. Costs are still going up and the government is still funding a large part of private health insurance premiums through the marketplace subsidies. There is, as far as anyone can see, not even any work being done on a new healthcare plan.

What do most of us believe? Did Donald Trump have a clue what he was talking about in that statement?

Personally, I find that in all these claims of winning and how easy these issues are going to be resolved, President Trump has so far fallen flat on his face. Now, I'm fully aware that his supporters will say that it's because of Democratic and Independent push back. However, Donald Trump claims that he has an extremely high IQ and to not understand that there would be any push back or to not know how to work with a group of people to accomplish these things, would belie his wisdom and knowledge. He claimed years ago in his 'Art of the Deal': "You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on." (bolding and italics mine

Is it time yet to install a Commander in Chief with more awareness and understanding of the job of running the nation? Someone with even slightly more ability to work well with others? Someone who does understand that you don't make friends and influence people by denigrating them and calling them derogatory names?

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Well, apparently, from all known public resources/ news/ all parties,

the current pres has done well, and there was no one else avilable that might

have done as well.... (maybe not even nearly as well?)

All the shenanigans in the news look like they have been just politic double-speak, on purpose, for some very other goal than truth or anything helpful to the people.....

We were as well or better in areas before Trump became President. Had Obama's policies continued, the stock market may not have been as high as the present but it would have been at a record high, just as it was before Trumponomics.

The farmers which had to sell their farms because of Trump's trade wars would most likely still have their farms and the national debt would be much lower.

There wouldn't be a national crisis because of Republican corruption and our foreign policy would favor our traditional allies instead of embracing totalitarian regimes.

since about 1902 at least, there has been a growing national crisis! (no matter who or what party was "in") .

You claimed some things that might even be true about the country, but it is no different than under other regimes, and you did not note whatever good was accomplished one way or another -
i.e. biased view attempting to use common faults of all politicians but focus on one for whatever reasons, instead of doing faithful to God's Word what God says to do ? Pray for the leaders that there may be some continued peace in the country, NOT stir up stife and dissension with apparently claims that could be built on quicksand?

Hi eleos,

Thanks for your reply. I don't have any idea 'who' the electorate (or electoral college) would replace him with. Myself, I like Biden and a few others as better replacements. I like Bernie Sander's platform, but I think he's too old for the race and unfortunately doesn't come across with a presidential manner. I would also like to see the U.S. join all of the other free and democratic nations that have fully paid healthcare. So I'd likely also support Warren or Klobuchar. I'd round out my choices with Steyer or Castro. I'd mention a couple of Republicans, like Mitt Romney, but they won't let him run. Ben Sasse also seems like an up and coming Republican choice for President. Joe Walsh and Bill Weld would round out my Republican choices in that order.

Basically we always end up with two choices and those two get all the media coverage ... and the public don't really hear from other parties (via the media) ... they are "mentioned" once in a blue moon at best.

I would like to see all coverage (debates) moved to Cspan and all parties given equal time.

Hi eleos,

Or...you could just study up on the one's you feel are worthy of consideration on your own. Sadly, the 'debate forum' while it does have its positives, is a lot like two people just beginning to date. They're trying their best to only show their good side. Also quite sad, is that much like the Scriptures, most people don't really have any deep understanding of any of the candidates, beyond what they say, or even worse, what others may say about them.

Our generation has the greatest amount of deceptive spin surrounding others, that it's really difficult to know what someone is really like.

Most people don't study on their own ... they fully rely on what the media covers ... and a lot of that is "opinion" ... one way or another.

That's why ... yes ... I think it should be a requirement debates from all parties should be on Cspan ... equal time ... and be available to be accessed at any time online.
