Hi all,
In these days of impeachment inquiry and all of the hubbub that it brings to the fore, I think from time to time we should be reminded of the type of leadership that we seem to have.
Donald J. Trump

"When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win. Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore-we win big. It’s easy!"
That was on March 2, 2018. We have now been embroiled in this tit for tat trade war with not only China but several other trading partners as well, for over year and a half. As yet, the USMCA trade deal, which honestly makes fairly minor changes to the trade deal already in place, has yet to be ratified. We're now being told that it's going to be some major victory if we can get signed off on this very minimal partial trade deal with China.
What do most of us believe? Did Donald Trump have a clue what he was talking about in that tweet?
"My first day in office, I am going to ask Congress to put a bill on my desk getting rid of this disastrous law and replacing it with reforms that expand choice, freedom, affordability," said Trump on Oct. 25, a day after he St. Augustine speech, in Sanford, Florida. "You're going to have such great health care at a tiny fraction of the cost. And it's going to be so easy." (Said during his campaigning)
Well, other than the mandate, nothing much has changed concerning our healthcare. Costs are still going up and the government is still funding a large part of private health insurance premiums through the marketplace subsidies. There is, as far as anyone can see, not even any work being done on a new healthcare plan.

Personally, I find that in all these claims of winning and how easy these issues are going to be resolved, President Trump has so far fallen flat on his face. Now, I'm fully aware that his supporters will say that it's because of Democratic and Independent push back. However, Donald Trump claims that he has an extremely high IQ and to not understand that there would be any push back or to not know how to work with a group of people to accomplish these things, would belie his wisdom and knowledge. He claimed years ago in his 'Art of the Deal': "You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on." (bolding and italics mine
Is it time yet to install a Commander in Chief with more awareness and understanding of the job of running the nation? Someone with even slightly more ability to work well with others? Someone who does understand that you don't make friends and influence people by denigrating them and calling them derogatory names?
God bless,
In Christ, ted
