Since people are asking I suppose I will go into a deeper explanation of how I have come to this point and what I actually have come to believe. I will start by saying that I have been studying religion with an intensity that only an extremely depressed, frustrated individual can have. I have read hundreds of books on Church History, Greek Philosophy with its developments and origins, Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Sumerian Babylonian and Egyptian mythologies and architecture as well as language. I have well studied most of the monastic fathers, especially when I was trying to become a monk, and I have a passion for pre flood archaeology and science, as well as studies related to DMT, psychic abilities within the brain, and potential telepathic abilities of early man. This is not to brag but merely to show that I have one passion, and one passion only- truth.

It started ironically as I was converting into Orthodoxy and doing an intense study on the lives of the early saints when I started to see that much of the writings about the early fathers and saints (especially their martyrdom's) have been embellished, likely to secure the faith of those under persecution and encourage them. I read on the development of the liturgy, and its relationship to early greco/egyptian mystery cults. Christianity is unique in a way that it was the first mystery cult to open up its knowledge to the common man, it was a philosophy for all. However historically it falls pale to the earlier mythologies that paint a very different picture than what the Old Testament interprets as history.

There was a flood, every mythology records it. Yet every mythology also records that there were multiple beings inhabiting the Earth, creating different species and basically ruling mankind. The Bible seems to imply that it was demons taking human women as wives, yet earlier Sumerian myths call them the Annunaki, a paint a very interesting picture of these other worldly beings creation of man. What is further interesting is that the Annunaki are present in different forms throughout the most early civilizations responsible for the most advanced, explainable architecture around the world. They are also the inspiration for the Goetic Demonology and Enochian Magic (listing the names of various angels).

All across the World from Machu Picchu to the pyramids, we see extremely advanced structures the further we go down time wise. The structures were built to resonate to certain musical frequencies and were all aligned with constellations, and for the most part still are. Tesla believed that the Obelisks present in Egypt were created to conduct certain forms of energy due to the fact that the Egyptians took stone from sometimes thousands of miles away in order to create conductive structures similar to Tesla coils. All these structures are made of the same kinds of Rock, and are cut with laser like precision. On the map they triangulate and some sites within these triangles look like they have been blown up. (I recommend watching Brian Foester on youtube. He is a megalithic archaeologist who does on site tours of these locations). Now I do not deny the supernatural qualities of the Christian Faith, however they are hardly unique. Faith healings are present across all cultures, as well as communication with entities, often with the use of psychedelics and higher meditation/ astral projection. Christians believe in the airy realm, which is equivalent to the hermetic "astral plane" where demons are said to reside.

My study into Demonology led me into studying the distinctly different personalities of different demons (I know many people who have contacted both angels and demons through use of sigils in meditation and it seems to be actually effective). Some demons (the word demon itself has been corrupted to have a negative connotation from monotheistic religion), are evil, some seem to help men, and some even seem good. Both Angels and Demons can be contacted with these methods and I find it interesting that the Bible strictly bans worship and communication with Angels. But why would Angels help a person summoning them in the first place? I've heard many people who claim that communicating with Raphael helped them be healed and so fourth. This is what I believe Christ's not so unique power came from. His interaction with demons, and many of his miracles, are directly in line with Goetic methods of binding and working. I realize many will be offended by this, but these are merely my interpretations. I have no ill will against Christianity or Christ because I don't see it as inherently evil to contact these beings. Why would Christ pick 12 apostles? Why pick the same number as the sum of the Zodiac. Even the apostles saw the importance of maintaining this number. Why?

My main interest is from here further studying the relationship between the annunaki, the prophets of old, the megalithic structures, and mythologies of the one world civilization that once was across the globe.

What is further interesting is that the Sumerians account for 2 more planets then we currently have in our solar system. They were ridiculously accurate about all things astronomy, yet made diagrams of a solar system with two more planets. I have heard theories that perhaps the Annunaki were in fact ETs from one of these planets, and this explains the head binding cultures found throughout the globe in early culture. Later on perhaps the two collided. Eitehr way Sumerian mythology describes them as going back into the heavens before the great cataclysm.

It is interesting that after the flood there were always legendary bringers of civilization- heros and magicians who brought higher technology and founded the early civilizations. Who were these men? What about the Giants and other creatures mentioned throughout the mythologies of the entire world. Why so many similarities?

Right now we are finding structures in Turkey tens of thousands of years old, and DNA study further shows that early man crossbred with at least 3 other hominid species. All this is yet left out of the Bible. Why? Perhaps because as many scholars believe, the OT was written by Daniel in the Babylonian captivity.

Furthermore throughout scripture is the usage of the word EL, and Queen of Heaven, as I am sure many of you are familiar with. These are references to ancient Canaanite deities yet are used in reference to the One God.

There are too many questions to be asked in all this and I cannot settle on one answer right now. My plan is to focus on DMT usage with a group I am forming, in order to scientifically and academically study these said topics. I already am attempting to get in contact with some experts in these fields, mostly the outsiders to the mainstream community. I won't go in anymore as this could go on for pages upon pages (I am beginning the writing of a book). I merely wish to give a general premise of some of the reasons I cannot commit to Christianity at the moment.

I thank you all for your kindness, and perhaps we can have further discussion in the future, but I encourage you all to further study the world and its faiths and histories without fear- for I feel more at peace and free then I ever have.

I've given Christianity a 22 year chance at making some impact on my life, yet little has been accomplished except further bringing me into confusion and depression. I cannot give it any more time. I hold no malice, and if there is a God I hope he will save me- yet I feel I have tried to find truth to the best of my ability and this is where it has led me.

This is meant to be a summary

I see this as someone who came to Christianity intellectually, and with an "academic" approach to the faith, instead of personally transforming. As if your faith was in the balance of who has the most factual truth, rather than a personal conviction for your need of reconciliation to God and for a new heart. You measure and compare the biblical records with pagans and naturalists, but is that what the faith is about? Rationalism?

Scripture is not as the others. The heavenliness of the contents, the power of the system of truth, the majesty of the style, the harmony of all the parts, the central focus on giving all glory to God, the full revelation of the only way of salvation, and many other incomparable qualities and complete perfections, all provide abundant evidence that the Scriptures are the word of God. Our full persuasion and assurance of the infallible truth and divine authority of the Scriptures comes from the internal work of the Holy Spirit bearing witness by and with the word in our hearts.

I am praying for you, and still encourage you, to return and to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised" (Hebrews 10:36).

I would say I came to Orthodoxy intellectually, but was raised Christian. You are correct though, I have never felt I've had a relationship with Christ even when I was a child. I have prayed, cried, and writhed around in the floor in agony over this to no avail. What else can I do eh? That is where the obsession began.

Several figures throughout history come to mind (mostly founders of religions and movements). Whilst Christ's claims to being the son of God make him stand out, there are problems that I will explain below.

If, for whatever reason, you feel the others you mention have done miracles, then I suppose there isn't much hope for you believing Christ is who he is.

As for the "other problems" you mention, I see it all too often, people using intellect to convince themselves of pretty much whatever they choose too. This Christian thing takes a lot of faith, and one example is sometimes we just need to let go, trust God and do as the bible says, as in Proverbs 3:5:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

If we can't do that at times like this when it is paramount for us to keep believing, then it simply isn't going to work.

The problem with using psychedelic drugs for spiritual experiences is that you open your mind to the wiles of demons who are millennia old and much more knowledgeable about history than anyone living in the flesh. They are also more intelligent than someone having read hundreds of thousands of books.

Can DMT open one to these entities? Yes, as well as other chemicals or mediums of influence. And the one whose mind feels to be spiritually liberated is actually being further and further imprisoned, after each successive use, into a construct of reality in which they have created (with the help of demons) and have deified a ‘truth’ they have rationalized using their limited three pound brain, and in effect, replaced God as revealed by Christ with their mind. It is self-idolizing one’s brain and putting their mind to be above the mind of the Church. It is neo-Gnosticism, which was the first heresy the Saints contended with.

The demons know exactly how to promote this, especially to the willing, and they are playing the long game in their goal in the destruction of souls.

You have listed credentials which are neither impressive nor unique. Nothing you wrote is new to many of us. Nothing you referenced is something revealing. You have read a lot of books? I would bet I have read more, and that means little to nothing when the heart is a slave to the mind. You have taken psychedelic drugs, I bet there is no drug you have taken that I haven't as well, and yet no high has touched the soul or spirit more (or revealed more truth and knowledge of God) than a true and sober encounter with Christ, of which you have never really had or have forgotten.

You have spoken with demons? Big deal. You would do better to never have another spiritual experience in your whole life than continue doing so. I am not worthy of God’s grace and my prayer is not to grant me with spiritual experiences but rather to protect me from demons. In this way I have had much less supernatural experiences of heavenly grace but also in tandem with much less confrontations with demonic manifestations. This is much more helpful in this life of repentance than otherwise.

Your doubt is not unique even as you as an individual are. Your struggle is shared by many, even as your own personal experiences are yours alone. And your sin is sadly becoming more and more commonplace as the new “Gnostics” of our times are riding whatever wave the demons are conspiring to lead men away with. Of course now the common channel used (in conjunction with the zeitgeist of the times, as they have always done to fool the suspecting) is “alien encounters”, “intergalactic beings” and “inter dimensional entities”.

Nothing of this should be surprising. Many will fall away as we approach the last days and the wiles of the demons will only increase and strengthen.

I am going to finish by being blunt and not sugarcoating as other have, because the medicine you need is strong and bitter. Your sin is regrettable, but your prideful insistence to come here amongst friends, on a Christian based forum, in order to demote the faith of those here and justify your drug induced “awakening” is the greater sin and what you will be held more accountable for. Watch yourself, so that while you yourself are falling do not bring others down with you. The former is much easier to repent of than the latter.

Go fight your demons and if you need prayers from Christians, than come here and we will pray for you. There is no ill will from anyone posting here that I have seen. Everyone wishes you to find peace. But refrain from coming into this gathering in order to inject your “wisdom” which you know is against the faith of those present, which is simply a means of justifying your doubts and extolling your intellect. That is actually exactly what demons do. Come here instead for encouragement and fellowship, and to share the love for Christ which is what has brought the posters here to this forum. And if you cannot do that, than don’t until you can. That is not simply the Christian way, but the honorable way as well.

Hello TAW,
This is more a formality than anything else but I regret to inform you all that I will no longer be active on this forum as I have pretty much left the church. As some of you long timers know I have had many difficulties along the road to Christianity, but now I feel I no longer relate to it at all. After much time studying Archeology and ancient faiths as well as mythologies, I have come to the conclusion that the Bible, and the Christian faith are no more than retelling of old pagan myths under a different name. While I believe in the supernatural, specifically the beings we call angels and demons, I no longer subscribe to the Biblical viewpoint of them as I am much more interested in studying the sumerian/babylonian/Mayan and Egyptian views on them. I believe many things in the Bible, and I respect Christ as a wise and miracle working teacher. But beyond that I am not sure other than that I don't believe in the exact biblical narrative and am frustrated by the current state of the church. I go on to study other things with no ill will towards any of you. May you all be happy and blessed in the path you have chosen, I just can no longer by counted amongst your brethren. Best of luck to you all and thank you for many interesting discussions.

-Adam
I will miss you here and am sorry you have to leave. I have enjoyed and benefited from your posts over the last few years.

You will remain in my daily prayers (as you have been for some time). [Even if you believe they have no effect, I hope you understand they are offered with all goodwill.]

I often hope that if I am worthy of salvation, that in the everlasting that we would be coworkers with the Lord in some sort of ongoing redemption of whoever or whatever is in anguish. It is a speculation & at present, I just pray for myself & others in sincerity while struggling with my hypocrisy. I think the Lord knows what is best for us in our present state & promises us a glorified resurrection if we are faithful.

The sad part of this there are some Christian and Jewish scholars that cover this stuff. (Something I've been studying the last year or so). From a strict Biblical Fundamentalist standpoint this stuff is very damning, but it doesn't have to be for the rest of Christianity, and that goes especially from an EO or Church Fathers mentality based on theosis etc. It is possible to appreciate the Bible and all the ancient genres and tropes in it that are not only pre-Christian but pre-Jewish. IF Salvation is a relationship between Man and God it is entirely reasonable for God to communicate using all those pre-Jewish tropes, iconography etc. to give the early Hebrews his message. Such a thing can go against some extreme radical views of the Bible and Biblical Interpretation that mandate not only inspiration but perfection of the text, but can easily fit into others that are more realistic. historical etc. and recognize how scripture does not just record the divine message but also conveys the culture and personality of the writer.

Thank you for answering my question.

I believe that evil spirits / demons / fallen angels are deceiving your mind.

Messing around with DMT is going to bring you into the spirit realm / "astral plane" through Pharmakia Sorcery (Witchcraft through drug use). Astral Projection and contact with demons / fallen angels is Sorcery.

Even just researching about the occult has had negative side effects for me personally and I think maybe your research into demonology and Enochian magic has opened some doors to the spirit realm to be influenced that should have remained closed.

Ask Saints Cyprian and Justina to pray for you. Saint Cyprian was a black magician before his conversion to Christianity.

Marius, evil spirits are waring against your soul right now. It's spiritual, so intellectual study isn't going to win the victory. Only prayer, making The Sign Of The Cross, fasting and saying The Jesus Prayer will help.

Start saying morning and evening Orthodox prayers.

Common Prayers - Morning Prayers

Morning Prayers - Personal and Devotional Prayers - Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

Here are some prayers for you :

• Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered; and let those who hate Him flee from His presence. As smoke vanishes, let them vanish; and as wax melts from the presence of fire, so let the demons perish from the presence of those who love God and who sign themselves with the Sign of the Cross and say in gladness: Hail, most precious and life-giving Cross of the Lord, for Thou drivest away the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ crucified on thee, Who went down to hell and trampled on the power of the devil, and gave us thee, His venerable Cross, for driving away all enemies.

• Guard me, O Lord, by the power of Thy holy and life-giving Cross, and keep me from all evil

• Prayer Against Demonic Influence
Almighty God, Who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver me also from every influence of unclean spirits. Command Satan to depart far from me by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue me from demonic imaginings and darkness. Fill me with the light of the Holy Spirit that I may be guarded against all snares of crafty demons. Grant that an angel will always go before me and lead me to the path of righteousness all the days of my life, to the honor of Your glorious Name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

I've given Christianity a 22 year chance at making some impact on my life, yet little has been accomplished except further bringing me into confusion and depression. I cannot give it any more time. Well I will have to keep you in my prayers. It is sad. I have had plenty of doubts and issues due to many things in life. The difference I really believe that Christianity makes me a better person. One that is more noble, merciful, compassionate etc. In the worst of times that sort of is enough. Besides that it gives me more peace especially when it comes to facing death and life's difficulties. I guess you can say it is a bit of monotheistic Stoicism.

Talking to skeptics and giving counter evidence and arguments etc. A day or so ago, I realized with some people there is never enough. Even though their are Christian answers to all the skeptical problems I don't believe their is going to be enough for some folks bent along those ways. Which is why I believe Jesus mentions "blessed are those who believe in me and never see me", "We walk by Faith and not by sight" etc. There is something in God's Economy that allows answers but not all the details to be clarified for the fussy or those that demand some kind of perfect answer.

But as I have said before "Where you are now is not where you will be in (X amount of time)" That is something more that you would say to a teenager, young adult etc. But I hope it is true for you in spite of all your study. One of the Christian themes that is neglected is the notion of the Life of Faith as a journey. In my younger college years I dropped out of Christianity for 3-4 years, and ultimately was better off for it. When I came back, I explored other areas and realized how many areas of my childhood and the Faith were problematic etc. I hope you also likewise gain something from being away, even though you are a little old for it, hopefully this is part of God's great plan for your life.

No doubt you would be in great shape spiritually if only the way to God were through the cerebral cortex - except it is not. And it sounds like you are doubling down and getting ready to crank that cerebral cortex longer, harder, and deeper.

Or...instead..

‘The Patristic teaching on pain of heart’, Fr Seraphim wrote, ‘is one of the most important teachings for our days when head-knowledge is so over-emphasized at the expense of the proper development of emotional and spiritual life. The lack of this essential experience is what above all is responsible for the dilettantism (superficiality, lack of discipline), the triviality, the want of seriousness in the ordinary study of the Holy Fathers today; without it, one cannot apply the teachings of the Holy Fathers to one’s own life….without pain of heart, one can be a barren fig tree, a boring ‘know it all’ who is always correct…(one) who does not know and cannot convey the true spirit of the Holy Fathers.”

Maybe you are studying too much in that all the info is getting jumbled up and causing you problems. Too much info can be bad. Especially when it comes from the internet.

The Bible is not a history book. If it were, it would be more informative on mans history.

I pray you find your way back my friend. Dont give up on Jesus.

God bless you

And I just want to tell you that I've gone through such spiritual and mental torment that it's hard to put into words. So, just know that I and other Orthodox Christians are now or have experienced similar doubts and torments that you have.

That is why Saint Anthony is my Patron Saint. Even before I was Orthodox his story connected with me.

It's clear the OP never personally knew the person of Jesus Christ, because when we do and it's personal, He works in our lives. Maybe Jesus will reveal Himself in another way and lure him back . My prayer will be that is the case, in the name of Jesus. Amen

Archeology, mythology and theology will wax cold, there is only one way truth and life and none of those is it. Anyone who has truly received the Spirit knows better, has the experience and ability to see and hear not as the world sees......

Greetings,

There is nothing we’ve undergone that surprises the Lord. Our uncertainty and moments in the wilderness can become powerful tools in His hand.

Sometimes we must live the questions. Even though our quest will cause great pain and truth will come at a price we never expected. I’ve walked that path.

Nevertheless, my anchor is embedded in Him. And my suffering was purposeful. All that I’ve learned and seen was placed at His feet.

And as you live the questions and seek the answers that plague your heart, I trust His providence is walking beside you.

For He has never lost a lamb that belonged to Him. And if He has etched His name upon you, you shall find your way to Him.

And the journey Home is the miracle..the ministry..the purpose of your being. God bless and watch over you.

~Bella

You can not love someone you do not know, you can not know someone without spending time with them. Yo have spent time with other gods, other books, have not spent time alone with God---just you and the bible alone. You do not get to know Cathy by spending your time with Debbie, Joan and Laura and you do not get to know Cathy by reading books about her written by those who don't know her.
God wants your heart, not facts about other gods, ancient history and archeology stored in your brain.

Read this: then get back to just you and the bible and the Holy Spirit. It is read by many denominations as a way back to knowing Jesus. God bless.

-Adam
Just try doing the exact things Christ said, such as in Matthew chapter 5.

Actually try doing these instructions and find out what happens. It's surprising what happens. That's when it became more than just some interesting ideas for me.
